The ship was well below par especially since we have sailed on Royal Caribbean and Disney in the past. This did not compare. Never sailing with NCL again. Their BOGO airfare promo is atrocious if you are traveling with multiple staterooms. I would rate the cruise a 3 and only because the ports of call are mostly great.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was about the best part of the cruise
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Unless you eat in the specialty dining the food is average to less than average. Do not expect any lobster tails or chicken fingers of the kids
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Activities were slim and after 10pm they were non-existent unless you like to gamble your money away and drink yourself silly every night. Shows were so/so and you had to reserve seating else sneak in. No real pool activities at all so forget games or ice carvings on pool deck. Deck chairs were stowed every night around 7pm so no going to the deck to layout after that.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Shows were okay but required reservations else a clever plan to sneak in. No comedy act. Same things repeated night after night so by end of cruise you were bored.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Staff did the best but waiters in the Manhattan room were less than stellar. Glasses not refilled timely. No asking for drink from bar unless you brought it up. There was one attendant who did a good job but they were few and far between
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
Cleanliness was an issue. halls around staterooms were always filled with remanence of room service orders. Apparently there were many people not leaving rooms. People were permitted to refill their water bottles directly from the water dispensers in the buffet even though signs were posted explicitly saying not to do that. I picked up a cup for lemonade and it had heavy lipstick marks on it which was totally gross. We witness a bar tender open a bottle of orange concentrate with his mouth and proceed to pour from it to make drinks. Both of these incidents were reported to the service desk. Based on all the coughing and sniffling we hear it was clear that illness was ramped. My mother and mother-in-law bot returned home testing positive for Covid 19.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Cabin size was fine but no place for storing 10 days of clothes. As a result the floor was used which made a cluttered cabin and difficult for housecleaning. Our toilets had issue three different times where they did not flush for hours in our entire section. Shower was more of a trickle and seals around shower doors were broken and never fixed even though it was reported.
Ship tip
Don't sail on this ship. Don't do the Mediterranean in the summer.
Rome is cool because of its historical sights but it is dirty and crowed. Avoid summer months as it is very hot making excursions uncomfortable and long waits
Amazing how you flew overseas through airports for a cruise, visiting all those ports and still blame the cruise ship for contracting covid! You should be a fortune teller.
