Review summary
This was a large boat with many activities. The bars and food were good but I see a trend being headed towards taking every opportunity to up sell their guests. That is fine to a point but I have noticed a bit of decline in what is offered in the "complimentary restaurants". A cruise is supposed to include all of your food with options for sit down and buffet style service. The food in the main dining room was good but I am appalled that nearly the entire right page of the menu has things that cost extra! This was not the case on my last cruise with Norwegian in 2015. I had cruised with Carnival and Princess prior to my first cruise with Norwegian in 2015. I noticed a definite difference with the quality of food on Norwegian and was very impressed that there were several options of included restaurants. There were at least 6 restaurants on The Breakaway for "a la carte dining" compared to one main dining room and 2 small restaurants all serving the same menu. I feel for the money I spent for my room, there should be more included options. I did enjoy most of the food greatly. I did also notice that the food served on the buffet has been increased in quality and options which is refreshing. One other design flaw in my opinion of the Breakaway is the location of the casino. The casino (and the fact that one is allowed to smoke in there) is positioned in an atrium areas that covers 3 floors and the sour smell from the smoking permeates a very large area. Over all the activities and entertainment were wonderful.

Ship tip
We liked Moderno for a less crowded buffet option on Sea days and Margaritaville on port days to avoid the chaos of the main buffet area.
