Review summary

These mega  ships loose the experience, tried it twice. Theater only holds 700 people, the ship has 4,000 passengers. Have to make reservations & only had 4 different shows. Activities that were held in lounges & theater are done in the Atrium. Unable to get seats & difficult to get through. with all the crowds. Difficulty making Specialty Reservations. Getting off ship terrible, long lines went from back going around in a circle.  Cabin bathrooms couldn't flush 3 different days for about 3-4 hours. The pool much to small, no chairs. I personally enjoy the smaller ships, like the Gem class.

My Cabin Stewart was excellent. They work very hard & have too many cabins to take care of.

Ship tip

Be prepared for crowds & lines. Make as many reservations before you go on ship!

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Unless the food is tres magnificent in the speciality restaurants, I don't see paying that extra money for the same food that comes out of the same kitchen.

I agree .I didn't even use my entire 3 day dinning package... either way to tired or just grabbed something quick from the garden cafe.. we were more than happy...we booked another for this October🙌

And that my friends is the reason we won't ever eat in the specialty restaurants. Plenty of free food all over ship. Better to spend elsewhere. And besides, most of the specialty restaurants ships have most cities have. Not same name but same food. Cheaper too

We were on the dawn many times. The pool was always crowded. So I have to say any ship no matter what size it will always be crowded. So enjoy and have a few drinks

The food in the complimentary dining rooms is poorly prepared and inexpensive.  Lots of starch and loaded with salt.

Manhattan room is not specialty dining & we waiting over 1/2 hour to get in last evening of cruise.

That's only specialty dining ...you have tons of other options that you do not have to reserve & can go anytime you like !!

You can't be spontaneous on these mega-ships.  Do I really want to plan that 90 days from now I'll be eating in a particular restaurant at a particular time? No.

The smaller ships ive been on jewel dawn and star much better. Less people. More room

Ive been on the breakaway. Beautiful ship. Its just too big and pool way too small.

If you make specialty reservations online you shouldn't have trouble

I got in multiple sold out shows @ 9:30 w 3 people cuz not everyone shows up. I expected overcrowding on such a large ship. Only a few times tho. Only thing that disappointed me was same room on Gem was 50% larger & 1/2 the price. I blame my NCL cruise consultant for telling me they would be the same size. I do also like eating outside on the back of the Gem, Breakaway is indoors.
