Review summary

If you are expecting to see tall walls of frozen glaciers calving off, you will not. The buffet is worse than you will expect due to food not hot or even warm. The excursions on shore are not worth it if you are already a country person who has seen snow covered mountains. Do not expect to see much wildlife. The best was an eagle which I have seen before. The staff is absolutely excellent and friendly. Watch as many videos as possible before your cruise. This will help you find the best of the cruise. Book directly through Norwegian or a trusted travel agent. Avoid all other companies that promise you savings. Review web sites for what you should bring on the cruise. You need less than you think. Be friendly with other guests and it will make your cruise much better. Do not be afraid to talk to the staff. They can make your experience much better.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Main buffet food was less than warm every meal. Italian restaurant was excellent. Cagney's so called 8 ounce filet was about 3 ounces at best after cooking. Taste and Savor seemed to be just buffet food served at the restaurants. I would rate all the workers as excellent and congenial throughout the ship. The dining and food was well below expectations.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The games in the atrium were fun and entertaining.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Jersey boys, Beetle mania and comedy were all very enjoyable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff and personnel were excellent in every area of the ship.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Cleanliness was excellent. Elevators at times were slow and not able to accommodate requirements for the passengers.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very pleased.

Ship tip

Skip the ship tour. It should be no cost but not worth what they charge. Best food is at the special restaurants.

Disembarkation

Very easy and passenger friendly. Keeping only carry on luggage is easy and makes this easy.

I think May was not a good time to go for wildlife viewing maybe. My family and I sailed on NCL to Alaska mid-June 2023 and saw SO MANY whales. Tons of wildlife in general.

You need to go to glacier bay or Hubbard Glacier to see massive glaciers
