Review summary

With several past Alaska cruises to compare to, we found this one to be wanting. The primary reason, perhaps, the allotted tomes in ports were totally disappointing.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very Good

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Exceptional

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Didn’t make use of much of it

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Stage shows were bad (ie Jersey Boy’s language is appalling; not the type of entertainment required on-board). Various performers around the ship were actually very good.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Exemplary, to a person! One specific standout was Executive Chef Godfrey Fernandes. Went out of his way to talk to us about various items of food offered on the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout and design of the Bliss/Encore/Joy is our preference. We found the Bliss to be excellently maintained, with little to no rust showing on our walks around the ship. Wood railings clean and varnished, inside and out, with the remainder of the ship very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As expected and previously experienced

Ship tip

Think twice about paying for Wi-Fi. Half the purchased minutes are spent waiting for programs to open and when you believe you’ve logged out, could very well not be, resulting in the loss of most or all your minutes.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

We love what has been done by the operators of this port. The restaurants, gondolas, zip-line, all of it. Kudos to them!

Cruise Glacier Bay

KETCHIKAN (WARD COVE), ALASKA

Lost at least an hour in port caused by mooring in Ward Cove, rather than in the city. Total time in port was also way too short. Poor planning

Victoria, British Columbia

I understand why this has to be a stop, but it’s a why bother. An excursion at night is typically a waste of money. You just don’t see anything.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Took too long

I was wondering about the BC stop at night, definitely seems a waste…
