Norwegian Bliss

Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Review summary

While this ship is new & clean, it is rather large, and with 4,000 passengers we found it almost too big to enjoy. We know we now prefer the smaller ships (2,000 passengers or under) because you can get to see the crew more often and really explore the ship instead of just passing by rooms filled with people. We've never felt a ship was "too small", but this one was "too big."

Embarkation

We arrived at the terminal around 12:30 and it was very smooth! Time to get on ship was less than 1/2 hr!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Found the food to be okay. Variety was good, Garden Cafe can be very crowded to maneuver. Main dining rooms were nice, enjoyed Manhattan dining room the best. Did not do any specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
When not in ports, we participated in trivia & misc game activities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Beatles show in the theater was excellent, as was Jersey Boys!!

Cabin / Stateroom

A little tight around the bed to get to the balcony, but it was very nice.

Ship tip

The ship is big!! We were on deck 14 and most of the activities were on decks 6-8. Taking stairs down to avoid crowded elevators not a problem, but a lot to take up!!

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Stayed in Seattle after the cruise on our own.

Juneau, Alaska

We did NCL excursion "Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Quest" and enjoyed it. We had a little over an hour to walk down the path to the falls and take pics of the glacier. The whale watch was nice. Saw lots of humpbacks, orcas and even some seals.

Skagway, Alaska

We did NCL excursion "Haines Wilderness Odyssey by JetBoat". Enjoyed this excursion. Ferry to Haines was nice, then bus ride to the jetboat. They provide you with warm jackets, gloves, blanket and ear coverings. Take it all as it can be a bit breezy when the boat is in motion. Saw eagles nest, eagles, trumpet swans and beautiful scenery. Hot drinks and lunch provided for the bus ride back to the ferry.

Cruise Glacier Bay

Amazing to see.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Cute town and easy to walk around. There was a medical emergency the night before so ship had to turn around so we lost 2-3 hours. This caused our excursion to be cancelled, so we just walked around the town.

Victoria, British Columbia

We had the NCL excursion for the Butchart Gardens. Only had 1-1/2 hrs here and the map they gave us was so confusing we spent most of the time walking around in circles. Would not recommend this tour. In hindsight we should have taken the buggy tour around the city.

Disembarkation

We did not have a flight home as we were staying in Seattle. So we opted for the carry your own luggage off the ship and had breakfast and a leisure morning.
