Review summary

We met a really nice group of people due to having to sit in the 20 seat smoking section while getting rained or snowed on, but it made for lots of laughs. I would've been pissed if I had small children who expected to swim or do the the Big Slide advertised. I've sailed Norwegian for 25 yrs & would say this was my only disappointing cruise. But it was ALASKA, so I expected it to be Cold, just expected a Ship made for it (enclosed pool & upper decks). This ship was made for it's original NYC port & trips to Bermuda & Bahamas.- and should stay there.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
the Manhattan Restaurant was excellent, but only open for dinner. the Taste & Savor dining rooms were atrociously SLOW service. The LOCAL was by far the best to be for watching entertainment while eating. The Q, Los Lobos & Ocean were all very good but cost extra.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The big SLIDE was never open & the pool rarely. I thought I read there was an indoor pool, but not the case. The Spa rooms were fantastic. H20 adult section was the WORST. Not even music playing thru speakers. smoking area about 20 chairs in a corner (unprotected from weather) while the rest of the deck was empty & boring. H20 used to be the BEST part of the cruise ;-(

Entertainment

4 out of 5
& the Beatles shows were near impossible to get into. It has a much smaller Theater, so things were repeated so that all could see the show with reservations. We usually enjoyed a show every single night in the theater on other NCL ships

Children's Programs

the Teen club did a great job

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout is great but not used in alaska. H20 pretty much closed as was the Boardwalk. The Casino only allowed smokers if you PAID to play! Even during torrential rain & Ice storms.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Fabulous LARGE bathroom, but we would've given up the extra space there to be able to fit all 4 of us in the room once beds were brought down at night & MOST of the day until our Steward got around to cleaning & putting the beds back up in the ceiling-- (usually around 2-3pm)

Ship tip

Don't buy it for fun stuff shown in commercials if your sailing Alaska- Docks are a HIKE from central areas.

Cruise Glacier Bay

Stunning Views while a nature guide spoke. Only wish you could here it all over the ship rather than on main decks or in your cabin.

Ketchikan, Alaska Did not visit port

CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
