Great time to be had by all by ARCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I were taking this cruise for our 25th Anniversary and we had a great time. The ship had everything you needed on board. The crew was top notch and made it a fun time to be at sea. Our waiters were awesome and took extra special care each night to make us feel comfortable and informed about what to expect each day. We plan on taking another cruise soon.

Could have been a 4* if? by hawgclucker

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Paid for our cruise up front and 3 excursions , $110 dollar mystery meal and the premium drinking package . Was having a great time until we went to gets drinks and the bartender said you will have to pay cash these cards are not good. So we went down 6 floors to the front desk and showed our paper work of our prepaid drinking package , they said we are so sorry it is fixed now . Go back to the 11th floor pool deck bar order drinks and in front of a crowd the bartender said sir your card is good but your wife has to pay cash. Back down 6 floors to the front desk oh sir we are so sorry it's fixed now , get back to our room and that night i check our billing on the tv and they charge me another 714 dollars for the drinking package, wemt back down to the desk they said sir we are sorry we will gice you credit back and they did. so on to the mystery dinner dressed formal sitting with about 6 other couples they ask for our drink order and I said a crown and coke waited about 20 minutes got up went to the bar in the lobby got my own. When I finshed the waitdress came by to chec on our table and I ask for the same drink and my wife wanted a redbull vodka waited about 20 minutes went back to the lobby and got them again, at this point the female manager from hungary said sir your not allowed anymore drinks and i explained that i had the unlimed package and i was not being loud or drunk or cussing and she said no more. Then the people at our table laid into her saying what has he done , what did he do and an 84 yr old ladie told her he has done nothing and you are rude. Well she calls security and the main manager over all the ships restaurants and he calls me outside we talk for about 5 mins and he say's i see no reason why you can't drink told the table he was sorry and gave everyone at the table a free dinner at Chops steak house the next night. But it ruined my night and the rest of my cruise.

We enjoyed our week on the Navigator of the Seas. The boat was very clean and the staff very friendly. Next time we cruise we will probably just use the smaller dinning areas and pay the extra. The buffet is also very good.

First RCCL Cruise by Unsatisfied

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

How should I begin? To start, I had reserved a wheelchair accessible room for 4 people. We were taking my 89 year old mother on her first cruise. I heard so many great things about RCCL. However, 4 weeks prior to our sailing, my mom got the flu and passed away. We decided to go ahead with the cruise in her memory but low and behold RCCL said we could not keep the room since no one was wheelchair bound. They were not accommodating or compassionate at all with our situation. So we had to cancel our reservation and then rebook. We asked that our room be set up for 3 separate beds. When we arrived it was set up for one. Went to customer relations and they said it would be taken care of. Located cabin steward (who was magnificent to us) and he never got the instructions - but he took care of it for us. When we got to the terminal it was kaos. Super Bowl and Mardi Gras was going on and the cruise line told us to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. which we did - oh my word! After we finally got to park and check in - which went smoothly - we were herded into a waiting room. Instead of letting people go aboard when there was no line they made everyone wait for Crown passengers. I understand that but if you have no line you should let others go to keep embarkation going. This procedure needs to be reviewed. Food on board was sub-standard to the other cruise lines I have been on. I realize that a new menu was being implemented and will give RCCL the benefit of the doubt that it was due to that. Most of the food was prepared to my satisfaction. I guess my biggest complaint was the lack of compassion to our situation when my mom could not longer sail with us. I know the cruise lines upgrade and they could have considered that due to our situation.

Terrific time on the Navigator of the Seas by Pantherlady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I loved cruising on the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas out of New Orleans. Despite traffic from Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl, we arrived early enough to park in the "whale" lot and got on the ship before noon. The Navigator of the Seas is decorated Mardi Gras style with life-sized statues of revelers greeting you at the casino entrance and glass bottomed floors filled with N.O. memorabilia. On the Royal Promenade are themed bars and shops, and service desk, as well as 3 levels of inside cabins whose rooms overlook the promenade. Quite a lovely site. At night on the Royal Promenade we were treated to "shows" of 70's music and a parade. Dining was plentiful and delicious. We were treated to the new menu and it was hard to choose among the offerings. In the 3 level formal dining room, you can't help but notice the huge chandelier. The ship was immaculate and the crew was very attentive. This ship had one of the best crews I have ever had the pleasure to know. Nighttime shows were the least interesting, except for the singer Kenny James. Many cruisers mentioned that they missed the Las Vegas style shows, and the "crew" shows have only computer generated background instead of sets. The pool deck is divided into a Solarium for adults only and a family pool area. In the Solarium are a pool, 2 hot tubs, a bar and plenty of seating. In the other pool area are 2 good sized pools, hot tubs and plenty of seating. For the athletically inclined you will find a rock -climbing wall, mini-golf and basketball court as well as a gym and spa. Personally, I can recommend the bamboo massage. For improvements, i would suggest having flat-screen televisions in the rooms, pool towels in the rooms and reclining chairs on the verandas. All in all, I loved this ship and will be sailing again soon.

Super Bowl Woes by Deejess

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Really enjoyed the cruise. The problem arose waiting in our car for 3 hours while they tried to find a parking lot for us. Then returning to New Orleans with some miss information about how to get back to the parking lot where our car was. Another 2 hour delay.

Vacation Cruise by Ontheroadagain

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

So looking forward to cruising on RCI -- not impressed! We had nice weather and relaxing time -- just expected more from RCI. Nightly entertainment was very mediocre. I did like the salad bar at lunch in the dinning room. Very disappointed in "My Time" dining. Very poor set up -- needed reservations and they were limited times and you had to do it a day in advance.

Royal Carribean is a great cruise line. The service is excellent. The food is fantastastic. There was not a single dish that we ordered that we did not love. Although Royal Carribean has cut out a few things they used to do, such as the Chocolate Buffet, we still prefer Royal Carribean over all other cruise lines.

Good cruise by peerson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved the Ice Skating show. Best show this cruise! Did not like the dancing show with all the girls in bras and bikins and the street talk. This show is not for children! I am thankful we didnt bring our grand children with us, and that is what I had wanted to do on next cruise! This was not like our other cruises on Royal Caribean! We like to eat at the Windjamer, but this time the food was not as good as in the past, Mostly I didn't like the long lines to get your eggs cooked. I just gave up waiting in line and ate the already prepaired cold eggs.

change the way your wait staff gets their tips for the Premium Drink Package by NewCrui53025955

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Most of the cruise was very enjoyable, however once I decided to go with the Premium Drink Package the wait staff started treating me and my friends as second class. I asked some questions and it would appear the tip from such packages go into a general fund and then get split among all of the wait staff at the end. I would like to see each wait staff member gets the automatic tip directly each time the card is used.

Great sailing on the Navigator of the Seas by wulfiegirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had never been to New Orleans and since it was a convenient drive from Atlanta, we decided to try this port. We were very pleased at how easy the port is to get to, to park and to board the ship. We hadn't counted on it being Mardi Gras but that added to the fun! The ship was wonderful! We had a great balconey room, fantastic service and met wonderful new friends! The crowd on the ship in January was a mature, senior crowd so if you are a party animal this is not for you. We will definately use this port again and continue to travel on Royal Caribbean in the future!

Honeymoon Cruise by Honeymoon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

this was our honeymoon cruise which my new wife had never cruised before. The experience with the wait staff in the dining room was excellent. Food somedays came out cold which was disappointing. Stateroom was always kept up from our very good housekeeper. She the housekeeper was always enjoyable to see and talk to. The entertainment was okay though the night we played Love and Marriage (Newlywed Game),the audience was asked for the couple that had been married the longest and the shortest,my new wife and I had been married 4days is all and they proceeded to take a couple that had been married 6 months but had not had a honeymoon. We thought that it was very unfair how they had done this as they clearly stated longest wed time and shortest..The game was fun but we were Very disappointed at this.Kevin the jewelry associate helped me find a very nice Citizen watch which i became to know him by name as i was undecisive at first. But did purchase one on the last day of our cruise. Food at the Windjammer Cafe was always cold though coffee was hot. Personel was always friendly.

The dinning room staff were fantastic, the food good. Casino does not follow through with promotions, "free drinks" are not free. Rooms small, shower leaked onto floor - balcony rooms on Carnival are bigger and better.

A bit disappointed by cruiseforever84

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have been on several cruises, but never on Royal Caribbean so we wanted to give it a try. Our favorite has been Celebrity and others told us that RC was on a par with it. I'm sorry to say we were disappointed. The ship was beautiful and we were VERY pleased with our cabin. The crew was very friendly and we had no problem with them. It was the little things that bothered me. For instance, the towels were in awful shape; they were so rough that when I washed my face with them I got a defoliation. One day the bath towel was ragged with strings hanging off. I guess I just expected better. I also thought communication was lacking. Never could understand any announcements over the loudspeaker - either too loud or spoke too fast. Not enough information in the daily Compass Point. One day we found out there was a barbecue at lunchtime on deck and we never knew about it, neither did any of our dinner partners. One of them saw it when they were dismantling it. This is very trivial but it surprised me that there were no chocolates on the pillow at night!! Extra charges for things were not fully explained. For example, at Johnny Rockets you had no way of knowing what you had to pay for, other than the $4.95 cover charge. It was lots of fun and a great experience, but I would have preferred knowing what I had to pay for. Was also disappointed with the selection of logo items in the shops. Too much emphasis on jewelry. My other big disappointment was the Bingo system. Never on any other ship have I seen the cost to be so high. The fact that a couple could not share a card with 6 games on it by dividing it into 3 games on each so both could play a card. It cost $33 a person to play 4 games, with sometimes a payoff of $100. This was ridiculous and we only played one time, whereas we would have played every session if it were reasonable. All in all, we had a nice trip, but I don't think I will sail RC if I have another choice.

Relaxing cruise by Christmascruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The personnel is what makes this a great cruise. Service is their top priority and it is done with a smile. Everyone greets you and by the end of the cruise you have met a friend. Our wait staff in the dining room was exceptional and they knew our preferences by the second night! I enjoyed the room as it was very large with a very big closet (enough space to hold the clothes for my teenage daughter and myself). The bathroom was larger than other ships I have been on. The bed was very comfortable and the room was attended to twice a day. The food at dinner was always varied and fairly good, but I would have to give an average rating to the offerings in the cafeteria style restaurants. The choices were many, but there was always a long line for the egg station where omelets or eggs are prepared to your tastes. The foods in general did not look appetizing. The ports were what I expected and most of the time we just walked through the town and had lunch at familiar places from past travels. Did not attend any of the shows this trip, but still had lots of opportunities for entertainment. I would recommend this cruise.

Great Fun with Friends by SebringCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We decided to take this cruise as an opportunity for three couples to have a reunion. We are close friends, but retirement and job transfers have put mileage distance between us. What a great way to reconnect! The ports of call were fun as well as the activities on board. The guys were competitive, as usual. The food was tasty. All ship personnel were very helpful and friendly. I was very impressed with the accommodations and the sterile conditions on board. We are already talking about our "annual" reunion for 2013!

Beautiful Ship, very clean by tmysing

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

All in all it was a wonderful cruise. The ship was sparkling clean at all times and the crew, attendants and waiters were friendly and very helpful. There was an outbreak of norovirus on the second day and this impacted the entire cruise. Although we did not get sick, the routines changed drastically. Instead of serve yourself buffets, we were required to be served by the staff. We certainly understood the precaution but it made that part of the trip less appealing. The one thing that we were disappointed in was the food. Whether it was the buffet or the dining room, it was often cold or luke warm. In the dining room, where we ate every night, it was as if the vegetables and potatoes were put on the plates early and then the meat or fish, etc. were put on later. The food on the buffet was common and boring and also often not hot enough. I think we expected more since last year we took a cruise on the Carnival Elation and the food on that cruise was excellent and one of the highlights. We expected more on Royal Carribbean. Also, there seemed to be a lot of extras that we were asked to pay for, such as, if we wanted fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast, it was an additional charge. In addition, the photos were twice the amount that Carnival charged last year.
