Surprisingly Better Than the Reviews We Read Before Going! by pcbr57

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The food was outstanding & the waiters were just as outstanding.  Our Stateroom Attendant, Kevin Saunders, was the best we have ever had on previous ships. We hope anyone going on the Navigator of the Seas gets lucky enough to have him!  The ship band for all the shows was excellent!  The trumpeter in this band could have put on his own show with his incredible playing.  The Ice Show is not to be missed & the comedians were very funny.  We had beautiful weather everywhere we went & Bonaire had the best water for snorkeling & scuba diving of ANY of the stops.  You could just walk from the ship along the beach & see fish everywhere in the crystal clear water!  The cruise director, Cuddy, WAS SO FUNNY!

Worst Ever by berkleyfax

I will never sail this ship again, the ship was full of Ukrainians over 1300. You would have thought that they owned the ship. People smoking any where they like. Could not get a chair on the Lido deck because of people marking them with towels, and walking away for hours at a time. I have never been aboard a ship to were, I could bring my own music.

Wintertime Escape by creamtealover77

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Jessica and Martin in the dining room were excellent. Likewise, our stateroom attendant, Greg, was outstanding as well. The food was good. Entertainment was outstanding; however, we would like to have seen more dancing by the featured ballroom dancing couple. The Armenian poolside activities on day 9 were excessive in time. Cruise Director was great. There was a snafu with one of the scheduled activities; line dancing was listed in the compass as being in one of the lounges; but instructor showed up at poolside which left those of us in the lounge waiting for 1/2 hour. The beach in Aruba we attended on our excursion was very underwhelming; although the boat ride was nice.

Wouldn't do royal Caribbean again with kids by ladeirdra

Formal night getting  dressed up. And being in your room is like being stuck in the movie ground hog day, the TV play the same show over and over and over again, I means the same exact show , so be prepared to pay, $12 for movies they show on the big screen on deck, that you can't  hear

Great Service shame about the food. by garethballah1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The service and the room were my favourite parts of the trip.

My stateroom attendant Yorleny was absolutely wonderful, attentive, patient and professional and deserves all the credit for making my stay so enjoyable. She is Costa Rican I believe. The stateroom was roomy and clean and the balcony was awesome and peaceful, except that some idiot decided to smoke on the balcony one night, which was not cool.

We went to two specialty restaurants, Giovani's was quite good and the service was very good. The food was alright, but I am not a fan of Italian food, the presentation was great.

Chops grill on the other hand was a disaster, your chef or your waiters kept getting the orders wrong so I saw a few customers sending back their steaks, my steak was well done when it should have been medium, but I di not have the energy to send it back. Plus our waiter spent to much time chatting rather than trying to get things right, not good at all, and I would not recommend that restaurant.

we ate in the main dining area for the last 3 nights and this was all in all a much better experience.  Service was efficient, polite, friendly and attentive, a very good balance. I aslo had the lamb shank, lamb chops and roast beef which were all cooked to perfection, all in all a much better dining experience.

All other amenities were on point as is to be expected and I would like to make a special mention of Daniel the bar tender at the Vintage Wine bar for his service and again patience for the Tapas. While there weren't any people there, I still felt he spent just the right amount of time explaining the wines and cheese pairings, good job.

Had it not been for the Chops Grill experience you may have gotten four stars. Oh and the Windjammer was not bad at all either considering the high turnover of guests.

Equally had it not been for Yorleny my stateroom attendant you would definitely have gotten two stars.

First, and probably last, cruise by mplasman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Not at all what I was expecting.  There were way too many crowds and lines, the boarding process was just awful, shore excursions were rushed and unsatisfying, the food, while plentiful, was mediocre, and guest services personnel were indifferent.  For example, even though we were directed to rely on the in-room TV to find out about activities, amenities, entertainment, our account, etc., the remote control, which was the only way to operate the TV, malfunctioned continually and was never fixed even after we called at least four times requesting service or replacement.  Even though we made advance reservations daily for our evening dining, there was still a line.  Breakfast was available in the dining room or as room service, but came to the room cold.  To get a cup of coffee or any beverage, even a glass of cold water that didn't come from the bathroom in a little glass, required a trip up the elevators to the massive main dining area, which reminded me of a huge Golden Corral. The regular pool was crowded and always had very loud music playing and the adults-only pool was tiny.  Finding a couple of decent lounge chairs by the pool or a table in the buffet style dining room was a chore, unless you went at off hours. Two bright spots - the waiters in the sit-down dining room and all the evening entertainment were excellent.  And thank heavens we opted for the additional cost of a balcony state room, which, while narrow, was well laid out and quite comfortable.  I don't think I could have abided staying in a smaller room without open air access to the ocean. And, of course, there is no beach unless you opt for shore excursions at additional cost.  Yes, the towel animals on the bed were cute, and the ship appeared clean and well kept, but all in all, this just isn't for me.  I much prefer a resort, hotel or cabin for my future vacations.

Navigator of the Seas by LorindaLyons

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is the third cruise that I have taken, but the first for my husband.  Even though this was his first cruise, he did notice the poor selection of food and the quality of the food.

My thought is that all ships should have a first time cruiser or a long lost cruiser seminar.  This will inform those of us that enjoy doing all that can be done, to know what is available on the ship and the location.  I'm sure that I missed events happening on the ship.

We did enjoy some of the performances that were available to see.  I would have like more.  For the money that we paid for the cruise, there should have been more variety all around.

Great cruise.... by mattgc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Favorites: Movies on the pool side screen at night.  Food was great.  Room was nice.

Cons:  Free food is not available at all times during the day....  The Windjammer Cafe (buffet) has closing times and closes around 9 pm.  After that it's only room service or the shops on the Promenade.  The shops on the Promenade charge extra.

It is a great ship!  Everything seemed clean.

Mis- leading description of excursion. by DebraWilczewsk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I booked an excursion from the desk on the ship to do the Dolphin Encounter with lunch and beach break in Cozumel on January 18, 2017.  We went   into the water and we stood on a metal grate that had algae on the bottom of the grate and up along a fence where we stood.  Later that day and the next day I started getting a rash on my feet, legs and my back due to this fungus.   On the shore excursion sheets that was delivered to our room for 3 nights said the same thing for excursion which read Kiss, Swim and get pushed & pulled across the water.  We did not get that.  Just a kiss.  It was very boring and this was on my bucket list.   Next day we went to the desk and was told that it was a mis print but the excursion sheets that were sent to our room for 3 days had exactly the same for 3 days no changes.   We got money off but that was not what we wanted we wanted to swim, and get pushed and pulled with them.  Was very disappointed that we did not get what we originally paid for.  Also on the boat there was not a lot of entertainment during the day by the pool.  No music playing or activity by the pool all day.  Just 1 1/2 hours of music and an activity.   Boring......  The entertainment at night was something that I could have seen at a club back home.   We have had more fun on other cruises that had more exciting activities and entertainment.  I will think twice about cruising with your cruise line.

Retired and Still Going by pastor4sda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Staff was helpful, food was reasonable, except the scrambled eggs on the Buffet. They were second rate, like plastic.

Not much of an itinerary, and the evening theater shows were average, or less than average for a few. Dance show was quite nice.

For the price, I would go again.

The whole Ship Attractions are great! We enjoy almost everyone of them! The only thing is the shore excursions which are a little expensive in comparison with the locals offers.

Wonderful and unforgettable experience January 2017 by mriascos12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Fantastic ship for couples and families.  The attention is amazing because you had hire high qualified personal to provide many services such us amazing quality of food in the buffet and restaurants, various shows, housekeeping, gym and dance clases and shore excursiones.  Great entertainment and Activities.

The company offer many amenities to keep us very busy. Offer many activities than you can possibly do in five days.

The food was great and fantastic !!! everything was neat, delicious and the food was fresh and exquisite.

My recomendation is to make the announcement in Spanish so erderly people can understand what the captain is saying ove the speaker.

I already recommended the Navigator of the Seas to my coworkers and friends.  Many of them talk about the quality of food and my answer was that the food is fantastic and very high quality of food.  J

Wonderful Ship by tdm5ef

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I just got back from a 5 night western Caribbean cruise on Navigator of the Seas.  This was our second cruise with Royal Caribbean and we can honestly say- we love cruising!  Navigator is a great value- the food was wonderful (definitely try Chops!) and the shows were a highlight of the trip.  We loved Cozumel, but was not impressed by Nassau.  Overall, the ship, the food and most importantly- the staff onboard were top notch.

Great first cruise! by elissa56905123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Being first time cruisers we didn't quite know what to expect so plied our friends and relatives with thousands of questions before we left. And it was better than they described! We loved Navigator of the Seas and the 5 day length was perfect. Although the bus tour of Nassau was interesting, the cooking class on a Cozumel beach with an open bar and access to all sorts of water sports was superb. Luis was a terrific chef who led us step by step in making a gourmet meal for ourselves. It was delicious and I can't believe that a non-cook such as myself could do even the chocolate rosettes and dish garnish designs. We also did a Miami bus tour since our plane didn't leave until 12 hours after we docked. The hop-on-hop-off bus tour stored our luggage and took us to the airport-- all for one price.

The advice we are glad we followed was not to get a drink package but to bring a case of bottled water onboard. We don't drink much alcohol so buying it per the drink was okay. The onboard entertainment was terrific too. I laughed so hard with the comedian that I was crying! There was a nice mix of people on board from young to old, from families to class reunions, and even a wedding party. Everyone was friendly and it was fun to learn about their experiences.

Enjoyed it! by wood4853149

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Loved this cruise. The ports, the food, and Chops is amazing !!!!!! I would urge RCI to label foods that have nuts in them. Twice I got ahold of a bread item that had nuts, and I am allergic. Ice show was great, the comedians were good, and I left with 600 bucks profit from the blackjack tables !

Love the stops and some things could be improved by carolynbarcus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Coco Cay was a fabulous stop!!! Onboard live entertainment was adequate... Enjoyed the ice show. Very busy and hard to find a seat in the Windjammer. The hot tubs were overflowing with people and in the evening they close them down, which is the time you want to go in. Dining room in the "My Time" dining was chaotic and we didn't go after the first night. Very clean and well maintained. Decided to try the "virtual" balcony - pleasantly surprised! It was much better than a room with just a port hole!

This is my first time cruising with Royal Caribbean and I was very impressed, It was way better than my last cruise which was on another cruise line.

The ship was a lot better and bigger. I'm always in awe of cruise workers excellent service, that really never fails to surprise me. But I loved loved the activities and events going on in the ship, so many to choose from! Will definitely cruise with Royal Caribbean again and recommend it to everyone I know!
