Review summary

Being first time cruisers we didn't quite know what to expect so plied our friends and relatives with thousands of questions before we left. And it was better than they described! We loved Navigator of the Seas and the 5 day length was perfect. Although the bus tour of Nassau was interesting, the cooking class on a Cozumel beach with an open bar and access to all sorts of water sports was superb. Luis was a terrific chef who led us step by step in making a gourmet meal for ourselves. It was delicious and I can't believe that a non-cook such as myself could do even the chocolate rosettes and dish garnish designs. We also did a Miami bus tour since our plane didn't leave until 12 hours after we docked. The hop-on-hop-off bus tour stored our luggage and took us to the airport-- all for one price.

The advice we are glad we followed was not to get a drink package but to bring a case of bottled water onboard. We don't drink much alcohol so buying it per the drink was okay. The onboard entertainment was terrific too. I laughed so hard with the comedian that I was crying! There was a nice mix of people on board from young to old, from families to class reunions, and even a wedding party. Everyone was friendly and it was fun to learn about their experiences.

Loved how spacious the cabin was! It was so much larger than the pictures and had great storage. We loved the balcony and used it quite a bit.

Cozumel Playa Mia - great excursion! 80s night entertainment on the Promenade - the Village People! Farewell cake in the Windjammer Dessert was chocolate covered plantains. So much fun doing the chocolate art! Main dish was fish with a tequila lime sauce - delicious! Appetizer of shrimp on a cornmeal tortilla with lettuce and cream Luis, our chef at Playa Mia cooking school, guided us step by step doing 3 dish Leaving Miami port at sunset as seen from our balcony. Our new bed companion! All the necessities of life!

We bought a shrink-wrapped case of water at a local store and in addition taped  the case so that they knew it was intact from the store and not tampered with (as in replacing the water with alcohol). My husband carried it all the way to our cabin through security, check-in, etc. but only because we missed the porters on the sidewalk! He did not intend to carry it the whole way and we had even taped our cabin luggage tag onto the case of water.

Royal Caribbean also allows 2 bottles of wine (but not any other alcohol) per cabin or person to be drunk on board. If you buy other alcohol at ports in bottles they will store it for you until the end of the cruise when they will return it to you.

Anyway, you can buy the water (only about $8 for a case at the local Walgreens by the Miami port). I did see a sign at security that talked about a $25 "uncorking fee" for wine you bring on board.

That's what I was told also, they would take it

The cruise line didn't take the water? All other cruises I've seen they have taken from passengers.

We are virgin cruisers too; going on our first one next month with navigator of the seas. So you can bring a case of bottled water the day you arrive to the ship? Any advice you can give?
