A mediocre cruise line. Service was lacking, food was forgettable.
Embarkation

Someone else's luggage at our door; our luggage did not arrive. We finally located it ourselves at almost 9pm (8 hours after arrival on the ship) when a "crew only" door was open on our floor and we saw it in the room just sitting there, luggage tags still on.

Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was mediocre at best. Service was far below cruises of years past. If a ship departs from an American port with a majority of American passengers, gear food to American tastes and not European. Desserts were bland; all chocolate desserts were made with dark chocolate, which is bitter; not a cookie to be found the entire trip. "Cheesy Mashed potatoes were inedible due to excess salt and some other unidentifiable taste. Every danish had raisins in it, so if you don't like raisins, you're out of luck. Breakfast sausage tasted like ham in a casing.
Onboard Activities

One very, very small pool on upper deck for thousands of passengers. Another pool had no shallow end so everyone had to hang on edge.
Entertainment

Excellent shows and musicians! Best part of cruise

Service and Staff

Waiters had limited English skills. Did not understand "unsweet" tea or "sour cream". Had to ask for water and butter refills. Room steward did not put beach towels in our room, had to locate him to ask for a roll of toilet paper, didn't put daily summary in our room and when we found him, he said he did (as if we would lie about it!).

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin itself was wonderful. Lost two stars in rating because there was always water dripping down our front door, so I went through sprinkles every time I exited.
Ship tip
Don't require prepaid tips. Service level was poor. Workers had no incentive to do better.
I'm shocked, hunting down your own luggage personally. A new low for MSC cruiselines. They also have the habit of getting in statesroom items mixed up like water vouchers for something wine vouchers. Anyway, thank you for your review.
Another person who does not understand that the mandatory “tips” are not really tips but salaries passed on to the cruisers to pay. And if you do not like European cuisine, why sail MSC?
