Review summary

The cruise was well worth it after securing a good deal on a last minute trip. The balcony rooms are nice, the crew and service was good, and the entertainment was fun. The itinerary wasn’t the best so I wouldn’t do it again but overall I had a good time on a nice big newer ship

Embarkation

Great! Got through and onboard in less than an hour. Smooth and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was ok. You can tell it’s a European based cruise line. Didn’t try the specialty dinning. Was way too expensive.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was plenty to do. Bowling, 4D cinema, and water slides consumed most of our free time. Zip line was closed almost the entire trip due to “heavy winds”.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I really enjoyed about 4 of the shows. Talented performers impressed me with various acts and skills. Was hoping to get some adult standup comedy but only got the Beerprov shows which were cool but not pure comedy.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our stateroom service guy and dining staff were excellent. All crew members were kind and accommodating even though I know they had to be tired of us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is a newer ship so it was very modern and clean. Beautiful designs and furnishings. I did feel like it was a little smaller inside than the Meraviglia (which is supposed to be smaller) but I think it was because the promenade was missing. Instead this ship had much more outdoor eating areas which becomes unusable space at sea with high winds and occasional rain. One notable thing is the Wi-Fi worked excellent all over the ship. Was very impressed by the performance after such a terrible experience on the Meraviglia.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was nice. Spacious and love the balcony with the big sliding door. The only complaint would be the sofa looked worn and had a lot of blonde hairs on it. Maybe it just wasn’t cleaned well but the stateroom service attendant kept it covered with a sheet for us. Also the bathroom flooring looked a little dirty. Nothing horrible. Just not as fresh and new as the rest of the ship

Ship tip

Try to get a room in the middle of the ship on the right side. Al ports visited had best views from the right side of the ship. Get the Wi-Fi.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
Not really a port. Florida is home

San Juan, Puerto Rico Did not visit port

They said the weather was too rough to port in PR. I don’t know how this is a thing and was disappointed we didn’t get to visit. When we went on the top deck the wind was blowing a little bit wasn’t like a hurricane or anything. Captain knows best I guess

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
The port shops were cool. Small island so not much to do. Took an island tour and ate at a local restaurant

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
The port was decent. Been here a ton of times so nothing new. Went to the public beach by Atlantis and did some jet skiing.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

3 out of 5
The island was really nice. Unfinished but still plenty of beaches. Rained a lot so not the best experience and they had some stuff to do but not enough to me. Jet skis were a follow the leader tour only. They had floating mats kayaks and paddle boarding. But some water slides, an in water inflatable slide park, or other activities would have been better. The sports complex wasn’t built yet so maybe more will be available later in the year. Was kinda boring.

Disembarkation

Quick and easy when you take your own bags.

Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

So glad you enjoyed, a cruise is what you make it. No one has control of the weather and sometimes they have to miss a port for our safety.

Glad you enjoyed it. People either seem to love or hate MSC and this ship. Those that enjoy it appear to book the Yacht Club while those that complain seem to book the basic cruise fare and expect the top level experience.
