I've been on two New Year's Eve cruises with MSC, but after this one, I'm ready to try another cruise line. The Meraviglia is a nice ship but well understaffed. There were few servers and bartenders that showed enthusiasm about their job.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
We were given a boarding time that could not be changed. How is that possible when travelling times do not coincide. Secondly, there was a line outside in the sun that took 2 hrs to finnaly board the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining room service and food was excellent and should be evaluated separately. The buffet was a disaster. There were insufficient staff to accommodate the number of passengers, especially when at sea. Often there were no plates and silverware, juice machines were empty and no servers to order drinks. Understaffed. I was on another MSC Ship (Seaside) and the service was much better.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Did not use these activities much, but did observe them and they were being enjoyed.

Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service at the Meraviglia lounge was the best, Bartenders Rosales, Alejandro, Jacques, Putra. My waiters at table 430 Carlos, Josh and Ace were excellent.

Ship tip
Pick a date that would have least amount of folks and kids.
There were two options for disembark the ship, you carry your bags and leave early or have them take your bags and leave two to three hrs later. We decided to carry our owns bags. When we arrived at the port, we received no messages from the captain nor the director as to what was going on, if the ship was cleared, when we could disembark, it was a mess. The lines of people in the halls with their bags and trying to get to the end of the line was a nightmare. Never again.
Cruising around a holiday is rarely a good experience. The cruise lines are not able to add temporary staff for only a couple of weeks like many other companies do.
