Great cruise by Drgonfly

Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean

Overall I enjoyed the cruise and boat. I would highly recommend MSC as a cruise line. It was my first cruise and went with my best friend. It was a lot of fun.

The ship is beautiful, food... by lashawna412

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

The ship is beautiful, food was delicious and the entertainment was amazing. BUT I will NEVER book with msc again. They were beyond rude the entire time and i couldn't wait to get off. If you don't have 20s in your hand to tip them, they won't even remeber your name. Nobody spoke English and if they did their accent was so strong you still didn't understand. The service flat out sucked 👊👊

This is our fourth cruise... by bigcrtt03

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

This is our fourth cruise on the MSC Divina. That embarkation process went very smoothly. We checked at about 3 p.m. there was really no line at all, the US custom employees as well as MSC employees very were very courteous and helpful. They verify your ID and the reservation take your picture issue you a sign and sail all very efficiently. They have two kiosk on this ship where are you can activate your sign and sail card this is great so you don't have to wait in line at the service desk and it decreases time with check in. After that we went to our room dropped off our carry-on luggage and went up to the buffet for lunch. Shortly after that we went down for the muster drill. The problem there was by the time we got back to our rooms got our life jackets and got to the muster station the drill was over. Their needs to be more time between the announcement and the actual drill. The ship is very clean and beautiful and the rooms are spacious. One thing of note you will need to bring your own pillow as theirs are very flat. My wife and I find the mattress to be comfortable. A complaint some people have is you have to have a card and place to activate your room lighting when did interior lighting is on there's also a small light outside your door that comes on to let your cabin Steward know you are in the room. The do not disturb and clean the room sign also fit and this activation slot as well as in the slot outside your door, we use at to alert this room stored as to win the room needs to be clean and when we are in and do not want to be disturbed. This worked very well for us. The lightning in the room is good except for the two lights beside your bed do not light up very well and have no dimmers on them so it would be very hard to use them to read at night in bed. You would have to turn the main Lighting on which might disturb your partner if they were trying to sleep. We had a balcony stateroom which was very spacious with a lot of storage for our clothes. The room has a couch a chair and an ottoman as well as two twin beds that can be converted to a king size bed. The couch does not convert into a bed. I think on cruise lines that a convertible bed might be a safety issue. There are a lot of areas on the ship to enjoy Mini clubs, bars restaurants a beautiful Spa area as well as a nice gym. Everything everywhere it's clean and nice. They have an outdoor Court for sports basketball soccer Etc. They have a nice Disco for your dancing pleasure. They have wonderful European coffee in most of the bars great expresso and cappuccino. And I find that the coffee served in the dining rooms to be very good as well. The Italian gelato is great it's only served in one place on the 14th floor. We tried to eat our breakfast and dinner in the formal dining room although the choice of food is much more limited there compared to the buffet. We find the atmosphere to be nicer there and the meal was much more relaxing. The ship was very full and the buffet can be very hectic most of the time. The formal dining room is only open for lunch on sea days. Overall we find the buffet food to be good . The American food has gotten a whole lot better since our first cruise on the Divina in 2013. But the Mediterranean food was better. It seems they're trying to change it some for the American taste. Although I think Americans only make up about one quarter two one third of the ship's passengers. I wish they would have left the Mediterranean food as it was. I spoke with a few European guest on the ship that said they like the Mediterranean food on the MSC European cruises better. But I have to say that the hamburgers and hot dogs have gotten a whole lot better since our first cruise. The pizza is still good but they changed the pepperoni if not as good as it was, It was good quality Italian pepperoni before. Why do they have to go and mess up a good thing just to save a buck here and there. The food in the sports bar is not a up charge this is nice. It's a place where you might be able to catch at football game. They only have ESPN 2 and a Caribbean version of ESPN so you won't get to see that Big Ten championship game between Ohio State and Wisconsin what a bummer. There was a NCAA football game on that night the one featuring the University of Miami of course . You can catch an NFL game as well as soccer games in the sports bar have a appetizer, Burger or fish and chips. It also has a mini bowling alley in it which is which is a nice touch. There's a nice big movie screen out on the main Lido deck but there needs to be better and more movies out there. We don't need to watch full length info commercials about MSC. Much less advertisements about MSC, we are already on board the ship you don't have to sell it to us. The evening entertainment was good especially the Michael Jackson salute and the show called witches were both excellent. Although a comedy club would be great. Europeans don't like comedy? The main attraction I find on this ship is that I get to relax a lot and that's what I go on vacation for so it works out very well for me. We we're on a back to back Cruise this process went very smoothly. We disembarked from the ship well except MSC lost one piece of our luggage. We will see how that goes, we did purchase the travel insurance. Overall we had a good experience on the Divina and it was a good vacation. I hope that cruising with MSC will continue to be enjoyable .

Now for the negatives. I... by Travelwizard1

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Now for the negatives. I surmised from You tube videos and crew/ guest ratios that 4000 passengers on this ship would feel crowded at times, and it did. Where the Divina fails is at this end. Definitely overworked staff. On other lines the average passenger / server ratio in the main dining rooms were about 16 to 1. My waiter in the Black Crab had 24! And still he never complained when I asked for a second dessert. The assistant waiter even managed to find time to make me a beautiful floral arrangement out of napkins . Probably because I said he was really cute! Believe me, a little flattery to an overworked crew goes a long way. Let's not forget they are human beings with feelings too. Not just our servers. Instead of demanding Philadelphia cream cheese for that bagel just use the whipped cream cheese the waiter brought you. You know who you are. Pool areas are always crowded on any ship. Especially so on this one obviously complicated by passengers ignoring instructions not to " save" seats when not in use. You guys who go out on deck at the crack of dawn to put pool towels on chaises also know who you are. This lack of passenger to public areas also lead to much inconsideration and rudeness of other passengers.Don' t blame it on the europeans...I experienced much bad conduct from American passengers. But the biggest issue I personally incurred was lack of accommodation for handicapped passengers. Yeah, I know you guys bitch about us cripples on scooters but let me assure you I was cruising long before I developed this disability and plan to continue until I'm dead, ha ha. There are handicapped indicated bathrooms in public bathrooms but no automatic opening doors ANYWHERE on the ship, not even into the bathrooms. Getting an elevator was really difficult because no one ever offered spots to let you on, never held doors open on the elevators. Now these are folks physically able to walk stairs but not willing to make accommodation for someone who can not. People, what happened to courtesy?? I worked as an ICU nurse for 30 years before I became blessed with severe crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis that prevents me from being able to walk at this time. So try being a little more considerate on a packed cruise ship. Some of this is a design error by the cruise line as well and I did fill out a review that addressed these issues with MSC. Disembarkation was another chaotic cluster. My travel companion needed to catch an early am flight. Waiting in the La Luna lounge was a mess. Hopefully, the MSC Seaside will show improvements in these areas. Overall, it was a great time and still made me want to sail with them again. Next time I will most definitely be sailing in a handicapped stateroom tp avoid the issues I incurred there. Bon Voyage all! And don't let this deter you from sailing on MSC.

Awed by the Divina! by Travelwizard1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

I absolutely loved this ship! I would sail on it again in a Miami minute. Great prices, awesome entertainment, good food, stunning decor. What's not to love??? Maybe the crowds and some rude passengers.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean

We will definitely be sailing with MSC Cruise lines again. We really enjoyed the entire experience and made quit a few new friends to boot. Dining was delicious and the buffet was always accessible when needed. We enjoyed the themed nights and the way the staff was always involved and fun to watch. The entertainers were astounding in every aspect from morning til night. It was a delight to be with you all and we hope to see most of you again soon.

This cruise was Eastern, not Western, many positives and one big negative. by MiamiCruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

MSC Divina is a wonderful cruise ship with dedicated staff, beautiful cabins, and (mostly) delicious food. Our only complaint (and it is a big one) is that they now allow smoking in the casino which drifts into many other lounges making all of them uninhabitable.

This was my first cruise.... by rena06172006

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

This was my first cruise. The overall experience was great! The dinner was not too good. It tasted ok; the presentation was not great. The rice was just thrown on the plate. The shrimps were very tiny and only had like two in my meal. The kids pizza in the dining hall was disgusting. My kids love pizza and did not like it. People were complaining you don’t get a lot of food, but that’s not the case. You can order 2 meals if you want. 2 desserts if you want. I liked the Buffett food better. The ship was very clean. There were no garbage cans anywhere but the ship stayed clean. The staff is wonderful. Everyone was friendly. The entertainment was great. Every show I loved. Not too much for adults to do, but the kids had a lot to do. They loved the kid place and made friends. We loved the divina. We booked a cruise for the Seaside. We cannot wait to experience that one.

The customer service is what makes my rating of this sailing the way I do. The no care attitude is not what I want when cruising. Every time you ask something it’s I can’t we don’t we want etc

Ship is beautiful. Food in main dining room very good and wait staff there could not be any better. Cabin staff was also excellent. Was very disappointed in rest of ship staff. Was not helpful, accommodating or interested in resolving problems to customer satisfaction. Will not cruise with MSC again.
