Review summary

MSC Divina is a wonderful cruise ship with dedicated staff, beautiful cabins, and (mostly) delicious food. Our only complaint (and it is a big one) is that they now allow smoking in the casino which drifts into many other lounges making all of them uninhabitable.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food generally good, but cold in the buffet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Great Trivia games and stretching exercises on deck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Theater shows excellent, also classical musicians and opera singers in the Atrium.

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff overall very friendly and helpful. Our Main Dining Room waiter, Teofilo, and his assistant, Dona, were the best we have ever had on any cruise line!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Design is beautiful, but now the casino allows smoking, and the smoke permeates five other lounges. When we went on Divina in January, the casino was non-smoking. I don't know why they changed their policy since now I am unable to go to the casino and some of the surrounding lounges. Very bad decision, MSC!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our Inside Cabin 12268 was very spacious and quiet. It was square-shared (not rectangular like most), and therefore had room for a chair and a table. It was tucked away in an inside corridor next to the cabin steward's closet. We enjoyed many good nights of sleep and many lovely naps. Highly recommend!

Ship tip

If you have only sailed on cruise lines which cater mainly to Americans, go on MSC with an open mind. There are many European passengers onboard, and many languages spoken by the passengers, the staff, and the captain. We found this made the cruise more fun, and we enjoyed the international flavor. If you are lucky (as we were), you will have the wonderful Captain Francesco as the Master.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
We live in Miami, we think it is great!

Nassau, Bahamas

1 out of 5
Nassau is crowded and from what the ship daily newsletter told us, apparently dangerous as well.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We walked off with our roll-aboard luggage at 6:30 A.M. Couldn't have been faster or easier.
