Review summary

I absolutely loved this ship! I would sail on it again in a Miami minute. Great prices, awesome entertainment, good food, stunning decor. What's not to love??? Maybe the crowds and some rude passengers.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Needs improvement as far as assistance for handicapped passengers. Poorly marked as to where to go for wheelchair assistance. Once inside the check- in area things went fairly smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good in the Black Crab even though I noticed repeat selections some days. It didnt keep me from findng things I really enjoyed like the Lasagna Bolognase. So delish that I ordered it 3 times! Calumet buffet had really good burgers, fries and pizza. The desserts there were really good and small enough that you could try multiple selections. Dined in the Galaxy one night and the filet mignon was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. The scallop appetizer was exceptional as well.

Cafe Italia

5 out of 5

Loved this cozy coffee corner. I had purchased a coffe cuddle package and was so glad I did.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pool areas were lovely but crowded at times. Too much seat saving. Unoccupied seating needs to be monitored better. I got around that by staying onboard while in port when the pools were less crowded.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Nightly shows in the Pantheon theatre were spectacular! I loved them all. May not be the taste of some passengers who do not appreciate the culture of opera, ballet and classical music. Very talented singers, dancers and musicians.

Pantheon Theatre

5 out of 5

Very comfortable and well designed theatre. I appreciated that there were ramps at some of the entrances as I was using an electric scooter most of the time.

Children's Programs

Did not travel with kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I had read many reviewss with negative comments about crew. I found crew members whether wait staff, cabin attendants or other ship personnel to be very personable. Never found any rudeness. I do feel that the passenger/ wait staff ratio is way too high. You can see how stressed they are. 24 passengers to 1 waiter is way too much.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Common areas were well designed and very attractive.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was well designed but was a bit tight on space since I really needed a handicapped stateroom to accommodate my scooter. There were none available when I booked.

Ship tip

Go with an open mind. This is totally different than a Carnival or Royal Caribbean experience. Fewer Americans on board. Embrace the cultural differences.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

We stayed at Homewood Suites Brickell pre cruise. Loved it. Free hot breakfast daily and light dinner with beer and wine most nights. Did a double decker bus tour with bay cruise. That was fun, well narrated and went to all the main areas to visit in Miami.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Went to Playa Mia and the Mega store. Playa Mia was excellent for me. I needed to use a scooter and was able to find a taxi van to take me to Playa Mia. Playa Mia has many areas that are paved so it made it easy for me to get around on my own.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Pretty bad. Needed to do carry off disembarkation due to early flights. Not well organized. I needed wheelchair assistance for getting off. Went there with my scooter and was not allowed to stay in line in their wheelchair so my travel companion could take my scooter back to the cabin for pick up. There should have been a separate designated place for handicapped assistance.

We were on the same sailing. Really rude passengers. Oddly, the ones I found rudest were other Americans...go figure??

I thought the Divination was a beautiful ship but couldn’t wait to get off because the rudest people I ever saw were passengers on this ship. Hardly anyone spoke English, no one was friendly except the staff! Carnival blows MSC out of the water! I actually was shoved off an elevator by another passenger. The ports were great, especially Jamaica and Cozumel. Will not sail MSC again!
