An Exciting Week by spongyjm123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Boarded the MSC Divina, was feeling a bit lonely, since  I just had my teenage son with me. The arranged gp did not work out and the person who invited me  had his sole partner with him and they stuck together.

Aboard the ship my loneliness was turned into a bundle of happiness.  I was fully entertained  and fully occupied had no time to feel lonely or out of place. However, if I wanted to lie and  relax quietly in my cabin and watch the activities on TV I could do so.

The entertainment was superb with a friendly, funny team.  From the morning hours with aerobics, walking, being in the gymn or pool, having all kinds of games:  Until late evening  to the wee hours of the morning, I was able to be entertained by a variety of music(I mean live entertainers) and be involved in dancing and karaoke if I so desire.  I had the opportunity to beautify myself, dress formally and take my favorite pictures.

I was able to eat healthy, binge or stuff my self if I wanted to with all the choice of dishes.  I however, chose to eat healthy for on the ship I could afford to. Food was available from morning until night.

I was so afraid that my teenage son would keep on annoying me, telling me that he was bored. Not so! from we parted in the morning, he only checked on me (if he could find me) to find out if we wanted to have any meals together. My son had his own agenda in his own group. It was like a  small world with love, laughter, fun and excitement. I really enjoyed myself.

Wondeful week!! by Venetians

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We thoroughly enjoyed our week on the MSC Divina.  We were very impressed by the beauty, cleanliness and service on this ship.

The theater performances were wonderful.  Each night a pure delight.

The food was good- not as good as some cruises we have been on, but definitely adequate. Desserts were always great.  The buffet was the largest we have ever seen and very impressive. A large selection each day and great pizza afternoon and evening.

The activities team were full of energy and so much fun.   They were available providing entertainment at varied functions throughout the day.

The layout of the pools and hot tubs were so unique and attractive.

Shuffleboard area of the ship was disappointing. There were deck chairs lined up on both sides and no way you could play.  This really needs to be addressed.

Would definitely choose this cruise line again.

Beautiful ship by Nduffy

Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was an absolutely gorgeous ship! This is the 3rd cruise line we've tried, and I think it's pretty comparable with others. The staff in the main dining rooms were excellent, very attentive. But anywhere else on the ship, you have to serve yourself and find somewhere to get your own drinks. The pizza was delicious. The rest of the food tasted ok for the most part but definitely not very high quality like you see on other cruise lines. The nightly shows were great.

Shows good, food not so good, all others OK by LionSingh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Shows good, food not so good, no urinals, all others OK.

they can improve on shows, add magic show, comedy shows , adult shows instead of repeating same old boring opera shows. Pirate and Michael Jackson, first Opera shows were good. Food was boring. same old, drinks were OK, good priced. All other areas OK. Add more fun for kids.

MSC Devina cruise by davedee1965

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Check-in was seamless, no issues. Baggage was handled very well, and we were in our cabin with luggage by 4 PM.  half of the 14th deck from mid-ship aft. was buffet serving both port & starboard sides. The need this for 3800 passengers for breakfast and lunch. Tried to time this due to crowds. We ate 1st. seating in dining every night. Found staff very friendly but overwhelmed hence much waiting for courses to be served. Found food to be just OK not a WOW moment, probably should try speciality dining next time for that experience. disembarq went very smooth, baggage came out on rotating automated beltways color tagged, no issues. Ship was beautiful staircase breath taking, a must see. Good security and staff very helpful, only downside, caught a cold and still dealing with it.

mostly good but some serius drawbacks by howgrand

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Ship is beautiful and stable. Stateroom very nice. Food is okay but not exceptional. Getting around the ship is very difficult as the elevators are overloaded and do not stop at requested floors. Entertainment in theatre is every good. Staff Is acceptable. Not as refined as some other cruise lines we have been on.

An excellent experience! by pberry79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The MSC Divina was the most elegant and beautiful cruise ship I have ever seen! The crew was very friendly and the ship was very clean! The food, although more on the European side, was very good. We had lobster, prime rib on formal nite. And creme broulee was available every nite. Though it is not a "fun" ship like Carnival, there was plenty to do every day. They even provide live music on the deck by the pool. There are 4 pools. As an American we were in the minority but that was not a problem!! It is a very large ship with lots of restaurants. The shows every night were out of this world.....amazing talent! We would definitely sail on this ship again!!!

Wonderful cruise ship! by shumphrey004

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a wonderful vacation on a beautiful ship. The staff, entertainment, and food were exceptional. Everything was clean and my only complaint was not enough rest rooms in the public spaces, and poor communication with passengers before the cruise. This was the best cruise we have ever taken and our first on  MSC. I recommend this ship, Divina, to anyone wanting an exceptional cruise that is a step above the rest.

Overall review by plighton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was immaculate, the service in the dining room and the room maintenance was excellent to outstanding. The entertainment far surpassed any we have ever had on other cruises.

The major problem was that we believed that we had arranged for an upgraded balcony cabin but instead it was tiny, no chair, no sofa, had to bring in a balcony chair to sit on, and we ran into each other when we turned around. We view this as a fault of cruises .com because our planning would NEVER have anticipated being in a postage stamp sized cabin. MSC did a good job. They are still learning about American expectations, but that will come as they do more American based cruises.

We will have trouble recommending to other friends.

Beautiful Ship ! by ValMartha

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved the decor of the entire cruise, we've been in different cruises and so far this one has been the most beautiful one.  Pizza, Pasta & Gelatto were fantastic, in other ones these items have been really bad, in general we liked the food however, they could change the menu once in a while, it's mostly the same everyday.  The Specialty Ristorante Italiano was delicious and super cute, the service was outstanding.  In some of the bars and restaurants they have not too many friendly/happy people working, some of them don't even smile or even say hello, they can definitively improve on this.  At the bar across from the reception there was a waitress that called me to go and sign my check ??? we thought that was her job, really unhappy girl !  Pools were great, the BEST ENTERTAINMENT we had was the F1 Stimulator, it was a lot of fun.  The best is we had a lot of fun thanks to the happy people !!!

Only for people who want to have a new experience. This is how the europeans do like it. by CFB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Expect it to be different, then you will enjoy it. they take good care of you with out the all over you attention. I loved it. they sometimes have a bit of language barrier but there are plenty of people who speak English very well. one of the crew, Jody, from south Africa was one of the crew who helped make  it one of my best cruise experiences I have ever had. I have gone on a total of 36. I have stopped going on Carnival do to the ships seem to be attracting the bottom feeders. I have gone on my last NCL due to them treating the smokers like Leper's and have watched the service going down hill. Please don't get me wrong! I am no snob. I love and always get an inside cabin. It's to bad that the NCL CFO played the under cover boss TV show before he did an under cover cruiser experience. The one position most of the cruise lines need to add to there ships is having a dedicated passenger Ambassador. This is a job that only answers to the CFO and is there as an advocate for the passengers when they are having problems. If any of the cruise lines read this, I am soon to sell my company and I think this would be a great job spending the rest of my life doing. I can't imagine retiring I love spending time with people. If you think this is negative, you are very wrong. It's a chance for the cruise companies to wake up.

Excellent experience on MSC Divina by kbilleck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Loved this cruise!  This was our sixth and probably our best.

The ship was gorgeous and well maintained.   PROS:  The absolute best entertainment on board was the Amsterdam Trio and Luis in the Divina lounge.  Talented and fabulous. The shows were well done and well choreographed, and there was a wide variety of entertaiment - all very well done.  Organization in the ports of call was excellent.  It's nice to sit down and not have someone hawking for drinks every 10 seconds like on Carnival or RCCI.  Only important announcements were made - we didn't hear announcements every 15 minutes like other lines.  They weren't trying to sell something everywhere around the ship.  Yes, they had plenty for sale but it was well contained and not in main guest travel areas.  They didn't have silly games going on poolside everyday.  The food was delicious and plentiful.  I have seen in other reviews that the portions were small.... not true, the portions are normal portions, not Americanized portions.  You can always ask for more.  The choices on the buffet were abundant and there was something different every day.  Rico, Amsterdam Trio (violin, cello and piano) and Luis (piano) were absolutely wonderful with the exception of the "guest" singers that joined Luis - they were awful.  The Trio and Luis played everyday in the Divina lounge from 5:30-late - very entertaining, very relaxing.  We would definitely sail this ship again.

CONS:  Embarkation needs to be way more organized.  We never once say the Maitre'd.  Our waiters' assistant did not understand English.  If you wanted and adults only area it was an additional $10/day which was not spoken of until you were on board.  There was a show in the afternoon we wanted to see, but there was no organization and the show before that one was allowed to tun 15 minutes over which made everything else late.  They advertised a piano bar (LaLune) and while there was a beautiful piano, the performer(s) were karaoke singers with click tracks.  I was looking forward to the piano music in the piano bar, not karaoke.  There are many beautiful pianos around this ship - use them for what there were intended, not as a desk.   Guest services on embarkation day actually kept closing stations while the lines were incredibly long - this isn't really the time to give people breaks.  I found that the crew (officers included) that were walking around the ship did not go out of their way to greet people or say hello.  That could be European culture, but not at all what we're used to.  Sometime it was difficult to get the attention of a bar server, but I'd rather have that than someone asking me every 10 seconds if I want a drink.    Overall..... very will done MSC!

not so good by Jimbrenda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

my interpration is the ship devina is beautiful. my balcony stateroom was magnificent.  service was marginal at best.  a large portion of the crew were young, and had a very low level of the english language.  most couldn't speak or understand english enough to communicate.  having been on many other cruises with many different cruise lines and i found the food on this ship was less than adequate.  most foods served were tasteless and extremely under seasoned.  the buffet was a total desaster, everything was either severly overcooked, undercooked, and or lacked flavor.  desserts were however the exception. they were wonderful

Beautiful ship by ncyoungchild

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The embarkation was a breeze. As we stepped on the ship, we were amazed by the beautiful interior. Lots of mirrors and very sparkly. The atrium was gorgeous! We were also surprised that we had a free upgrade to a balcony cabin. Very roomy with a great view. We were a little disappointed by the lack of variety of activities. The evening entertainment was about the same with singing, dancing and acrobats. We chose not to attend all of them but decided to watch the movie on the big screen or take advantage of one of the many hot tubs. The meals were OK. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the pizza station. The staff wasn't as friendly as with other cruises that we had been on. Because this being an Italian liner they were more professional not so much in getting to know you. Overall, it was relaxing and enjoyed. Will probably not go back but was a good one-time experience.

What a ship!!! by ejgarrett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time on the MSC Divina.  It is really a beautiful ship and the services were excellent.  I just wished it sailed out of Tampa or Port Canaveral.  It is a four hour drive to Miami from where we live.  I can't tell you enough about  the excellent entertainment the singers and dancers and the special performances of the two opera singers.  Beautiful!!!  We will for sure be sailing with them again if they go out of Tampa or Port Canaveral.

I wish that there was a 2.5 star review by pollocktoni

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Mixed reviews on this cruise.  First the good:  They had, hands down, the absolute best entertainment that I have experienced on any cruise.  I hadn't expected opera and classical music, and was delighted that they provided both...and great quality in both.  Also, the shows that they produced were very professional...a lot of times cruises depend on sparkle rather than talent in their shows.  This wasn't the case.  Service was wonderful and the ship was beautiful.  The bad:  The food was only so-so...we prefer buffets for their casual atmosphere.  On this ship, the dinner after 8:00 was mostly pizza and burgers.  The design of the ship made it impossible not to be in a crowd of people constantly.  There were too few bathrooms off of the main activity areas so that people had to line up.  The design of the single buffet caused traffic jams and again constant exposure to crowds.  The "jazz" bar played wedding reception music...not jazz...and they played the Cher concert at least once a day, every day, on the big screen.

MSC DIVINA - NOV. 29TH 2014 CRUISE by alexsalamone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Ship is fantastic and the shows are just AMAZING !!

The Food is either very good or sometimes bad. Breads and pastries are very good !

Food quality is actually better in the Buffet than in the Restaurants and for dinner in the restaurant it may take very long time to get thorough it.....but I noticed that it all depends on the waiter you get.Happy

Beautiful Ship Bad Food by almaw13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 11th or 12th cruise so I have a lot to compare to.  The ship being only 2 years old was beautiful and in excellent condition. The entertainment was way beyond expectation and better by far than I have experienced on any other line. The service was what you would find on the other cruise lines. Being an Italian ship we thought the food would be superior however it was substandard.  I never saw less variety and smaller portions.  There was plenty of pasta but it all had no flavor which was true of all the dishes.  We were a party of 7 and I spoke with many other passengers who felt the same way.  I can only say that if you are going for the food, choose another line.
