A Spectacular Experience by NitaC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

What a great vacation!!! The crew was outstanding. They made me feel like I had known them forever. While I was aboard ship, I was the most comfortable. My first excursion "Ultimate ", was ok; but, weather was way too hot for me to enjoy it. The Captain Morgan Sailboat was great!!! The snorkeling, just swimming in the bay, rum punch while floating in the water...wonderful!!!! But, really enjoyed being aboard ship the most. The stage shows were fantastic. Bingo would have been more fun if I had won, of course!! The food was fantastic. Buffets were great, but I have to say, dining in the Top Hat was the best!!! The attention paid to us was phenominal. We had a quadraplegic in our party, and our waiter jumped right in and cut up his meat for him, allowing his wife to enjoy her meal without interruption. I'm sorry I can't put his name in here, because he went above and beyond his duties with us. I told my grand daughter of the experience and now she's thinking of a cruise for her and family!!!! You can depend on me spreading the word of Royal Carribean's Mariner of the Seas.

Overall mediocre cruise by RayM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise could have been an overall great vacation, but the blatant disrespect towards my family by some of the "white" staffers was a bitter pill to swallow. There was definetly a major difference in the way we were treated compared to our white counterparts, especially in the "Windjammer". I like RC, but will unlikely cruise with you in the future.

A Fabulous Cruise by MaryA50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise aboard the Mariner of the Seas was "fabulous". From the moment we contacted the reservationist to our boarding everything went smoothly and without hassle. The stateroom location that had been recommended worked out wonderful and was convenient to everything. The ship and it's captain and crew were awesome and a delight to experience. As seasoned travelers we were not disappointed and would highly recommend this cruise.

Mariner of the Seas and Captain Johnny by Jerryh111

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently sailed on the Mariner of the Seas. The ship is fairly new and very well maintained. It's one of the largest and newest ships on the seas. In an effort to save costs Royal Caribbean has chosen to use rubber decking instead of the beautiful teak decking that seasoned cruisers have come to enjoy and expect on most other ships and cruise lines. It's really detracts from the overall look and feel of the ship. Also, with this ship being one of the largest and holding the most passengers, that "special something" is missing. Though the staff was well trained and extremely polite the personal attention was missing. Not their fault, but with the shear numbers onboard, unavoidable. The Mariner's Capitain, "Capitain Johnny" is quite a character. He makes most of the ships announcements himself, always ends in a joke and has numerous meet and greets throughout the cruise. He makes for a very memorable experience. The Mariner's dining experience was quite disappointing. Other than the optional, additional fee dining room which was excellent, the main dining room menu was not up to usual cruise fare. The menus were quite limited, food was not very tasty and the wait staff was very overworked. The staff tried very hard to please everyone, but with a 3 story dining room personal attention was not to be had The Mariner's Ports of Call were excellent. Only 2 full days at sea (one coming and one going) they made the best of the time alloted and locations available. Their private area in Haiti was beautiful. We went jet skiing for the first time. The Sea Trek staff was excellent and well trained. It was an exciting experience. The overall experience was excellent. Except for a few expectations that could not be met because of the size of the ship, the vacation was wonderful..

Overall this was a good cruise. The check in process needs to be perfected as well as the process for boarding and exiting the boat. The Crew was very good and very accomodating

A wonderful cruise! by JimS14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I personally think that "Mariner of the Seas" is one of the finer ships. Very nice art presentations throughout, adequate space in state room. Wife had great time in the shops and I enjoyed the casino. About 90% to 95% of the staff always had the "fun face" and presented themselves as entertaining and participatory with our good times. Was complimented by the frequent and relaxed conversation by the head waitress, appreciated the Professional treatment by the waiter and Loved the fun loving, "crazy Jamacian" assistant waiter. (He really made the dinner meal FUN!). I guess the only thing I really found to be a frequent nuisence was waiting for the elevators. Sometimes 5 minutes or more. Frequently we just used the stairs if there turned out to be a timely wait. That is the only area the ship needs to improve on in my opinion. Over all..... Loved the trip.

Wow, had a great time. by MargaretK6

This is a beautiful ship and well maintained. The stage shows were not spectacular but the ice show was first rate. Kids will love the skating rink, inline skating track and the Adventure Ocean activities. Had to wait for seating in the Windjammer for breakfast but other meals were fine. Loved the all day ice cream dispensers by the main pool. The ports were fine. Had been to them all before but had a great time and the tendering was handled well. We never waited for a tender either coming or going. My complements to the staff, you did a great job!

Family Vacation by ColleenG3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The overall impresseion of the Mariner of the Seas was excellent. We traveled on the sister ship Explorer of the Seas last year and found this ship to be a little "fresher" The staff on board the Mariner was terrific and very accommodating. The ship really does offer something for all ages and if you want to participate in every activity you can or if you want to hide and relax you can do that as well. I would say in general the large Royal Caribbean ships are catering to families cruising together and for that purpose you cannot beat the vacation.

A Terrific Time Was Had By All! by JudyC10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderfull time on our cruise. The ship was great and never seemed too crowded even though it was a full ship. We looked forward to Captain Johnny's noon address everyday and found him very entertaining. We really enjoyed the shows, especially the ice show. We had a wonderful portrait taken and that is something we wouldn't have done at home. The crew were extremely helpful and wanting to please us.

Fun in the Caribbean sun by ScottZ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We really enjoyed our cruise experience. For us there is no vacation better than knowing everyday the staff has the attitude of, "What can we do for you to make your time with us more pleasureable?" The first thing I noticed was the size of the ship, the Monarch of the Seas is HUGE. It is like a floating exotic city. As we explored the ship I was amaized at all the detail that was placed on everything.
