Review summary

Loved Bermuda and will definitely return again. I'm loyal to Royal so I will definitely sail again soon.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was hectic. Stood in line for 45 minutes before getting to check in area. The woman doing our check in was doing a perfectly good job checking our documents but her supervisor interrupted her while we were checking in and told her to pick up her pace because she apparently wasn't moving passengers through quick enough. The worst part was standing outside for so long even though we arrived in our check out window time as instructed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Husband and I did not dine in any specialty restaurants. We dined 4 nights in the MDR which always seemed slow and chaotic. One evening we ate at Johnny Rockets which was yummy and the other 3 nights we ate in the Windjammer. Dining in the Windjammer was fine. There was a good selection of food and desserts and the food was tasty. We definitely found that eating in the Windjammer was more relaxing than the MDR.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools (except for the Solarium pool) were closed on 1st sea day due to 6 to 8 ft swells which cause the water to splash over the sides of the pool. The activity department did come up with some games to do by the pool because there was no water in the pool. My husband loves the Flowrider so he spent several hours riding on it. There were several activities such as Trivia, Name that Tune, etc throughout the day and early evening. Neither my husband nor I tried the rock climbing wall or the Putt Putt.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The ship's performers were barely average and during the 1st show they performed the ship's orchestra was totally covering up the voices of the musicians. The Frankie Valle Tribute show was amazing and I would watch it again. El Gaucho who performed on another evening was very funny and was a pleasure to watch. Ice skating show was very good; it's amazing how much the skaters can do on such a small rink.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our cabin attendant, Eunice, was wonderful! She was always pleasant and smiling and took wonderful care of our room. MDR wait staff was not so good and that was one of the main reasons we did not eat in the MDR 4 of the 8 nights we were on ship.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The staff went to extra measures to make sure the handrails were frequently cleaned. I feel the ship is showing some wear but it's not one of the newer, fancy ships either. Layout of the ship is comparable to all the ships in this class of ships (i.e. Freedom, Independence, Liberty, etc...). This was our 9th cruise on a RC ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was small, but we knew that when we chose it. It is 2 decks below the Windjammer and pools which is convenient for being able to easily take the stairs. My husband and I spend very little time in our cabin and we primarily use it for sleeping, showering and changing clothes. The cabin is showing some wear but as I said before, it's an older ship.

Ports of call

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Bermuda is beautiful! This was our first visit to the island and my husband and I plan to return in the future. Public transportation (i.e. busses and ferries) were all we needed to see the island. Cost of a 2 day bus/ferry pass was $31.50 per person and we were able to go wherever we wanted! We did not book any organized excursions and still made it to Horseshoe Bay, all over Hamilton, and the zoo/aquarium at our own pace. The area just outside of the ship was well maintained with primarily shopping and dining areas.

Nassau, Bahamas

I have been to this port at least 10 times (this cruise was our 21st). My husband got off ship for about an hour. I remained on ship by the pool.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Beautiful island. Love the different places to sit (by the pool, by the ocean, by the inlet). Food selections on the island were good and included hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, BBQ chicken, fresh fruit, salads, ice cream, etc...

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Chaos is the only way that I can explain disembarkation. My husband and I were in the 2nd group called to get off the ship. We lined up and waited and waited and waited. Apparently the escalator had stopped working but no one conveyed this to the people in charge of our area. Also one of the card scanners in our area quit working and no one knew how to fix it. We stood out on the deck waiting to leave for approximately 25 minutes due to lack of communication between the terminal staff and the ship staff.
