Mardi Gras Summer Cruise by Ron106

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Mardi Gras

First time back cruise since March 2020. I was a little anxious and overwhelmed. This trip was amazing and the therapy I needed after weeks of lock down.

Mardi Gras by johnmasalkoii

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras

The Mardi Gras is amazing. The only thing negative I can say about our 7 day cruise is, there just wasn't enough time to try all of the restaurants. I highly recommend Big Chicken and Chi-Bang.

Loved It !!! by trelle90

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Mardi Gras

I loved everything about the Mardi Gras ! Food options were great. We only ate in main dining room for dinner once the whole 7 nights. Entertainment was great. I never felt bored. Service was slow but good. Kids on the ship were out of hand but that wasn’t carnival’s fault. Would highly recommend this ship !!

Great Cruise Overall by GavinBlair2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras

We loved the Mardi Gras, clean and new. Honestly easy to navigate after a while. The elevator situation was biggest downfall as at peak times it was a wait. Otherwise great food and entertainment.

Different in a good way! by babysharknc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mardi Gras

Yes the ship is bigger. Use afternoon of day one and morning of day two to explore. Elevators are packed, with long wait times, I think during muster drill elevator etiquette should also be gone over. Get to shows early. Wear a mask on elevators and large indoor gatherings. We did not get Covid during our cruise, but many did!

FUNtastic Cruise by ronajona

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mardi Gras

We love cruising, so we have a good time no matter what. We were concerned about the crowd size and Covid, but we took precautions by keeping our distance, wearing a mask and sanitizing. There were 51 people, including children, in or group and no one reported positive for Covid upon returning home (I mention this only because some people are avoiding cruises for fear or Covid). The Mardi Gras ship was fun, activities were abundant (use that Hub App to maximize your experience), food was good. That Family Feud live show was a hoot. They need to have more on a sailing because it was so popular, it could not accommodate the number of people who wanted to attend. The magic show had us waiting 40 minutes to get in only to be a dud. The comedy shows were nice, but we often had to stand in line to get into the show. The Punchliner Club and the Limelight lounge host the shows, but the venue is much too small for the Mardi Gras ship capacity. We loved the cruise, as a whole, but after sailing on the Mardi Gras XL class, we find that we prefer a smaller ship and smaller crowd. The port destinations were meh 🫤. The excursions did not seem exciting enough for the cost, so we just toured on our own. All in all, it was good to get back to cruising after 2 1/2 years. We had a blast!

Cool first time cruise by CJteamblue

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As a first time cruiser we felt the size of the ship was a bit overwhelming for all of us. We did manage to have a lot of fun regardless. Just wish some of the venues like the comedy clubs and shows had a bigger space,it all seem pretty crammed for the amount of passengers on board the ship.

Cruise was wonderful. Ship was beautiful, huge with so much to do and see. So many places to eat at. Getting on and off was good being that 6,000 people were on board. by adac228

The Mardi Gras is a beauty. A Big Ship with so much to do. So many food places to choose from. I really, really loved my cruise. I think anyone looking to have a good vacation will do so on the Mardi Gras while remembering your vacation is what you make it.

Great cruise! We know now that we like smaller boats though! by Melscoot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mardi Gras / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had an amazing time. The boat is too big for us though. We now know that we love smaller boats. I never felt crowded at all though. I love the luxury of this boat it’s a well spread out has a lots of dining options, lots of activities! They need to change the bathroom doors though. It gets annoying. What happened to all of the table coverings in the main dining room? It was just weird without it.

4th of July Mardi Gras Style! by kswaim1211

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Mardi Gras / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall, great week on this stunning ship. It’s very large so it takes some to find your way around. We spent most of our time on the back of deck 17 so the kids could go back and forth for the back pool to the water slides. If you get up to the slides when they first open, the first couple of hours in the day is a walk on. My early afternoon everyone is there and it’s crowded. That is when we would take a break from the sun and walk around the ship or take a nap! One complaint, not many food options after 9:30. Pizza lines extremely long at night and the other food location didn’t open until 11:30. With 6000 plus people on board, we felt like they needed another food location late at night.

Over all it was a wonderful cruise, I enjoyed spending time with my family. It seems we never get together until it's a funeral! This was a treat and I'm very thankful cruising has started back.
