Overall, Alaska is a wonderous place to visit. Doing the Land / Sea Cruise package was worth the planning, the crazy logistics, the price and the extra time. All well worth it for the experience and beauty there is to enjoy.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
A simple dash across a wet, windy and cold street to the covered walkway that led us to the ship. No wait at all. The Princess rep had boarded our train and completed all check in procedures from the comfort of our seats. Genius. No further paperwork. We just went aboard. Can't imagine anything simpler.

Food and Dining

The Allegro dining room was our dinner choice each night, and most breakfasts. The hostess greeted us warmly, found our reservation easily, and there was no wait at all for a table. We enjoyed our wait staff and table so much, that after requesting we be assigned there all week we only had to show up and each night were told to go straight to our waiting table. What special treatment. The wait staff, Phylio and Jason always greeted us with smiles and wanting to know about our day. Phylio's menu recommendations were spot on every night.

Thermal Suite - always a relaxing treat.
Entertainment

Went to 2 of the 3 production shows. Both excellent. The guest soprano was Elina Moon was an incredible talent. The two impressionists were pretty good, though a little on the Vegas Loungy side.
Children's Programs
Did not attend.
Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

Room was comfortable. Would have like more storage. Overdid it just a bit on the motion sensor lights. The ones near the beds were helpful, but the hallway light full-on in the middle of the night could have been skipped.
Ship tip
Make sure you know ahead of time that to get to the aft dining room allegro, it takes crossing to the aft from a forward or mid ship elevator before taking the aft elevator to deck 6. Its the only way to get there, other than by stairs from another deck and frustrated a lot of people.
Did the gondola and tram excursion. The port is well-layed out. We enjoyed the shops and museum area of the old cannery, the walk along the shore to get there, incredible gondola rides and views. Lunch at the Crab Shack was really good, though pricey.
Mendenahll Glacier was incredible. Visitors Center and trails were wonderful. Mt. Roberts Tram also interesting, though weather prevented seeing much of the top.
Bit of an issue getting to my luggage. No pathway from one row of luggage to the next so you had to go to the end of each row. Everything else was handled quite smoothly.
Sounds like a wonderful trip! We did a land portion in Alaska with Princess after a cruise and it was seamless! How great tho to be ready to just walk on the ship. They sure have that all figured out!!
