Review summary

Overall the cruise was good. We always enjoy ourselves.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was probably the best embarkation yet.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We had anytime dining and we are in the dining room 3 nights. Every meal was great along with the service. The buffet was good. The only problem I had was they didn't change out the options.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I can't really rate this one because we didn't use the pools and that's all Princess has.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The evening shows were mediocre at best. The dancers were great, as always, and there was a really good "Australian Beatles" band that we enjoyed. The ship's band/musicians played every night and they were good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had so many awesome bartenders, waiters, casino staff, art staff, and bingo host. They were the best part of the ship.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The reason for rating so low is because the seats in the theater were too narrow. Our mini suite was the smallest we have ever had. Some of the stairs were very narrow. Our room was on the Lido deck (16). We had to use the laundry room on the 15th deck since there wasn't one on our floor. The room on the 15th floor only had 2 washers, 2 dryers and one ironing board. Not enough for so many people.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This was the smallest mini suite we have ever had. The beds need new mattresses as they had food in the middle so when they were pushed together the middle was raised up. Not very comfortable. We also had issues with the room temperature. The balcony was also pretty small.

Ship tip

US monies is not accepted. The ship will convert it but the service desk only has 2 computers/desks that permit this and they do not carry New Zealand monies at all. There are 2 ATM type machines that will convert money. At a minimum, the Fed to convert is $6 per transaction.

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
We stayed at the Four Seasons right by the port. There is shopping and restaurants everywhere all in walking distance. We took the ferry to Taronga Zoo.

Melbourne, Australia

3 out of 5
There is nothing at the port. Best thing to do is but tickets for the hip on - hop off bus.

Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

4 out of 5
There are restaurants and shopping in walking distance of the port.

Cruise Fjordland National Park

Absolutely beautiful

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

5 out of 5
The port itself is nothing fancy. We took an excursion to Ovelston House and Larnach Castle. Great excursion.

Akaroa, New Zealand

4 out of 5
There is shopping and restaurants within walking distance.

Tauranga, New Zealand

5 out of 5
We walked off the ship with nothing planned. We ended up taking a tour of the island on a 4 person trike. The best thing we could have ever done.

Auckland, New Zealand

3 out of 5
I can't date this location because we went straight from the ship to the airport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
With our captains circle status we were able to wait in a restaurant instead of the theater.
