Glad I was with a fun group! by lorenbarnett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had a ball with my group of family and friends. Food was only OK. Disney cruise I went on previously was much better. Some staff on the ship were fantastic: the cruise director Amy and our cabin attendant Alex. Others were dismissive and far from helpful: excursion desk and terminal staff. We were carrying our own luggage for early exit and the lines through customs still took over 2 hours. We only made our flight because it was running late.

Had an issues but it was resolved by almost60cruises

Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We love this ship and have sailed on it multiple times.  Being Diamond Plus members of the Crown and Anchor Society makes our RCCL trips more pleasant.  We ate at two of the specialty restaurants where the food and service were fantastic.  Day 4 we had a problem with the shower which took 2 1/2 hours to resolve so we missed dinner.  But the headwaiter in My Time dining allowed my husband to order what we wanted and had room service deliver it allowing us to avoid having to go to the buffet very late.  And, due to the extremely long time it took to get a plumber, we were treated to dinner at Chops on our last night.  Guest services is very accommodating.Happy

Long time to get on and off the ship. Had to wait at the bar just to get a soda. Had very funny activities. I loved the excursions. Snorkeling trips from Roatan and Belize are great.

Areas of improvement by 77christiane

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall the cruise was good.

A few areas of improvement:

We noticed that several ship staff members were sick (coughing etc), we are now all home sick and on antibiotics. I realize that this is probably hard with limited staff but I hate that they were working sick, especially in the dining area.

Past ships had comedy shows as an option every night (this may have been Carnival ships), it would have been nice to have more adult comedy shows.

Maples by maplestobin

Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall great!  Our only complaint is that the cruise staff wasn't informed relative to our excursion being late back to the ship. The excursion staff told the ship there was a traffic accident.  This is true but we were 2 hours late back to the ship because poor bus broke down.  We had to wait 2 hours for a new bus out in the middle of no where in Belize.  The ship staff treated us like we did something wrong when our group of 38 returned.  The excursion was a Royal Caribbean booked/sponsored.  Would have been nice for staff to ask if we were okay upon return to the ship and if we needed help rescheduling dinner or spa reservations that were missed.  We missed our formal captains dinner as we as a spa treatment to no fault of our own!

Family Cruise by GenoFamilyCrew

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a great time on the cruise. Lots of precious time with adult kids. Our dinner staff was amazing (Reynoldo and Selvt Launa). Would NOT recommend the cave tubing in Belieze. Too long of a school bus ride to and fro -- very hot and long.

Once there, too crowded this several different tours in the caves at the same time.

Highly recommend

Loved the ATV/snorkeling excursion in Cozamel and also loved the Island Snorkeling shipwreck tour in Roatan.

Spring break 2016 by Cruiser600

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

Customer service on Royal Caribbean is 2nd to none. They always take good care of us, this cruise was no exception. This was our first time traveling with our kids. They had a ball!!!! The food was good, and the variety of the selections was great. Nobody ever tops Royal's entertainment . We're already booked for the Anthem in September, trying to reach Emerald status😊

Spring Break 2016 by Cruiser338

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our third cruise, first on Royal Caribbean. The boarding process was so easy, everyone was very friendly and helpful. This particular week was very windy but warm. The first sailing day we sailed into fog and the ship sounded the fog horns. Kind of freaked us out! There is so much to do on the Liberty of the Seas. Great for any age. We had an inside cabin, but it was so nice with plenty of extra spaces designed for storage. The ship was very clean and was constantly being wiped down by staff to avoid any intestinal bugs, I'm sure. We were offered hand sanitizer every time we entered a dining facility and there were signs in every bathroom reminding passengers to wash their hands. The staff that ran the Flowrider were very helpful. My son slightly injured his toe in the drain at the top of the Flowrider and we had to make a trip to the infirmary. They were so helpful but had seen this type of injury before, so I would recommend water shoes on this ride. My kids loved it, though! Great cruise ship!

Excellent Experience by rbell2331

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a delightful stay on the Liberty of the Seas.  The staff was very attentive and made for a wonderful first-time cruise.  The ship itself was amazing.  We lucked out and unwittingly selected a room on Deck 12.  These turned out to be recently added rooms  (January 2016).  These rooms had floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall panoramic windows instead of the normal 24" porthole. I felt it was better than balcony.  We had no obstacles obscuring our view from throughout the room (no railings).  It was completely private - no one on their balcony could look into our stateroom.  It was awesome!

The shows and food were amazing.  I definitely recommend spending the extra $100 and get the 5 night meal package that allows you to go to the specialty restaurants.  "Chops," the on-board steakhouse, was our favorite!  We ate there three of our nights.

I will definitely cruise again and I will definitely consider Royal Caribbean as my first choice of cruise lines.

Thanks to the Ann at for all her help on the front end to make our first cruise experience a memorable and fun experience!

Liberty Of The Seas-Western Caribbean by kcsmith1232

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise and it was fantastic! The server was great, the on boat activities were amazing and seemingly unlimited. The only issues we had was our shore excursion in Honduras was cancelled, but it was canceled by the third party vendor not Royal Caribbean. The customers service reps were very helpful in getting a different shore excursion.

A very nice getaway vacation by JackRabbit

Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas was a very nice ship with lots to do. It was recently updated with some new amenities; which made it even more enjoyable for the kids.  I would definitely cruise on it again.

My own Review by isgumer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 4th weekly cruise. I went on different cruise carrier in all my cruises. Each one had plus and minus points. In this cruise I enjoyed dinner in my assigned restaurant. Staff in entirety was extremely good, friendly and courteous. I believe I was not very happy with the overall entertainment. It was OK but I had better time on another cruiseship. I did not like the part Windjammer buffet place closed little early. I did not like the Casino part being in middle of 4th deck and open for smokers. That resulted each person was exposed to smoke being in middle of deck and open on both ends. That also spread smoke to deck 5. I believe Casino should be behind closed doors. Ship does have enough sport facilities. Gym was excellent.

Love the Liberty by BrunoFlipper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We sailed the Independence of the Seas out of New Orleans and loved the ship. Since Royal Caribbean removed all of their ships out of the best cruise port we were forced to go to Galveston for another taste of the Freedom Class ship.

We liked Independence but after sailing Liberty we love it more. We don't care for the Western Caribbean Cruises but driving instead of flying made the itinerary easier to swallow.

The ship was recently out of dry dock. The food was much better than Independence. The Windjammer was working very hard to try new items making big improvements.

The weather was windy so a lot of deck events were cancelled (slides, etc) still weather was good enough for Grand Cayman.

Cruise Director was great, The shows were good too.  Lounge entertainment could be improved but the lounge trivia events packed them in.

We are returning with family members in a couple of months...Happy

Spring Break Cruise by WestTXCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We booked this cruise during my school district's spring break since I am a teacher.  It went to Jamaica and Grand Cayman, places we had never traveled.  We took a cruise in December on this ship, but it was remodeled during the first of the year.  I doubt we will sail on this ship again.  We are ballroom dancers and there is very little music played during the voyage to interest us.  The orchestra played once by themselves and another time with the ship singers.  Those were the best times for dancing.  The ship's country band is from Europe and their music is not very good.

Many ups but one major down. by monicafturner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall we had a blast. The cruise director, Amy, and her staff are top notch. We met and chatted with the Captain too. Staff and crew seemed very well trained and happy~ take in to consideration that this was on the front end of their tour of duty and right out of dry dock. The recent $5 million renovation focused on the kids section mostly. I'd hoped for freshened staterooms but only the pricey ones were effected. Ours looked fine, but the bathroom was a little rough around the edges.  One one major downer was that the Chef's Table did not take place in a quiet alcove of the Chop's specialty restaurant as advertised.  We were sent invitations to gather at the Vintages Tavern. Upon arrival we were served champagne ( to soften the blow?) then led up to the Windjammer Cafe (the loud buffet dining hall where we ate regularly) and ushered to a corner where they had gathered several tables together to make one long table. Despite it being well set and decorated, the disappointment for everyone was very obvious.  A small jam box played pop tunes but it couldn't cover up the banging and clanging of dishes in the nearby kitchen. Once the initial shock was over the wonderful waiter/Sommelier began our tour through six wonderful courses and the chef explained each one with the wine pairing.  Generous servings of delicious fare and wine as well as interesting conversations with the other guests helped fade the disappointment for us.  However those guests who had experienced the Chef's table on other ships had a LOT of feedback to share with the staff afterwards.  Later we heard that the Chef's table program was instigated on the Liberty of the Seas AFTER the dry dock renovations and no special venue was provided. So kuddos to the staff for making the best of an awkward situation.  Tips: take advantage of the extra seats available at the first (must-see)  Ice Show performance.  Rocky seas could cancel the later performances. On your first day be prepared to stand in line for 90 minutes upon arrival at terminal.  Renovations are causing major delays. When reporting to your muster station for the required safety drill bring earplugs~ the announcements were killer loud. The Big Band performance of the RC Orchestra, and the comedian were highlights for us.  In Grand Cayman take the local bus (two blocks from the ship by the library) up to Royal Palms for the day. Go early and  you'll have the gorgeous beach to yourself. ($2.50/person bus, $2 entrance to resort.)On your last day be in your assigned departure venue by 7:20am and carry your luggage off yourself ~ we were in our car and on the road by 8am!

Liberty of the Seas cruise to paradise. by Cruiser987

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our two family cruise was a wonderful experience. The Liberty of the Seas with Royal Caribbean was a beautiful ship. The activities kept our two grandchildren ages 7 and 10 completely entertained. The four adults in our party also had plenty to explore. The food was excellent. The ship was spotless and well maintained. The crew would work on beautifying the ship whenever we were in port so as not to disturb the travelers. The Flowrider was a hit as was the rock wall, skating ring and did I mention the pools. The kids went from hot tub to pool and rotated between them all. There was a kids club that they enjoyed. The casino was large for a ship and we actually won over $1,000, not that we came home with it. We played and ate and played. What fun it was.

Big Smile
