Review summary

Will not be going on a America ship again especially Royal Carribean. Very helpfu and friendly staff but don’t get sick because we both had bad colds and when we went to the medical centre we were quoted 150 dollars each for the doctor to even look at us. Will not be sailing with these money grabbers again.

Embarkation

Very easy and quick

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Tides was very good although choices were not rotated some items were on the menu nearly every day which meant there was only limited choice each day that was different. Windjammer was a bun fight every meal time but was open for longer hours.Windjammer was also dirty in parts ie table bases were filthy due to peoples feet constantly on them ,needs regular cleaning due to volume of users.

Tides Dining Room

4 out of 5

Excellent service and very friendly staff

Vintages

5 out of 5

The main bar we used due too very friendly bar man Hason and his coworker. Plus very comfy area

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Only used the mini golf due to bad knees. Enjoyed this with my wife whilst wishing that I could use the rock climbing wall.

Shore Excursions

2 out of 5

Expensive

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Some good acts but they only lasted maybe half a hour. On my last cruise the shows had multiple acts and lasted at least one hour.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Excellent staff nearly every where and very friendly. The only exception was the medical centre.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Easy ship to navigate although we kept forgetting which level the dining room was on etc(my age and previous stroke) didn’t help.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Nice cabin with big window. The bathroom was in urgent need of an upgrade. The shower area had paint missing and looked very shoddy. The cabin steward Ali was excellent and very friendly.

Ship tip

Enjoy

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Did a two night hotel stay first so did our own thing in this beautiful historic city

Messina, Sicily

3 out of 5
Beautiful scenery but didn’t get any information about here except a list of Royal Carribean trips out.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

4 out of 5
Enjoyed this city but very busy. Had a trip to the acropolis but could only see it from the base due to my knees. Still was exciting to know I was there at the seat of civilisation.

Santorini, Greece

Disappointed with the town at top of the cliffs. Cable car 12 Euro return but worth it to not having to walk up or use the poor donkeys. Town was half closed and very expensive. In the restaurants a bowl of soup was between 12 and 15 euros. Bought cheaper in a five star hotel. Also thought the town was very shoddy.

Suez Canal Transit

5 out of 5
Excellent experience.Hadnt realised how big it was.

Aqaba (Petra), Jordan

2 out of 5
Took the complimentary bus to town but got back on immediately again. I couldn’t get to Petra due to unsuitable for disabled and people like me not good on legs. Royal Caribbean tour was 250 dollars each, phew ! Anyway.

Muscat, Oman

Very clean and pretty. We had a Dhow trip out which went up and down the coast and we both enjoyed,it was excellent

Dubai, U.A.E.

Didn’t get to see Dubai due to cock up by Royal Carribean . Arrived at port late the we were instructed to queue for two hours to obtain our passports and then we had to visit the immigration shed to have our passports stamped and kept by passport control. At 10 we the had to queue again to get our passports back from Royal Carribean. No time to see Dubai cos we then had be packed to put our suitcases out side in the corridor for 11pm. Bloody nightmare and I thought the Americans were good at organising.

On Navigator we had to see the doctor at 3 am. They did not charge anything. Still wonder why🤔. As stated above Travel insurance is a must

It does cost to see doctors. Nothing is free! Maybe staying in your country is best.

Sorry your poor health made you not enjoy your cruise, however it sounds as though you are blaming them for your health situation.

I’m not sure why some people think it should be free to receive healthcare. Doctors have extensive training and experience. Why the hell should they work for free? I should say “unbelievable “ but I see this crap everyday.

Royal Caribbean is not an American company. Most cruiselines are listed as being from the Bahamas. They also have to follow all laws for each country that they port at, if they say you must give your passengers then you need to. We always pack a small pharmacy so we never need to visit doctors on ship.

Charged to see the doctor?? What a horror 🤪. Seriously??? Welcome to the real world

I guess you'll never cruise again because they're all like that

It’s always important to have a comprehensive travel insurance policy that covers medical. A medical evacuation flight, if needed, can run tens of thousands of dollars.
