Review summary
We booked the Greek Isles cruise on the Jewel of the Seas departing from Civitavecchia on May 20. We made the reservation directly on the Royal Caribbean site. We selected an ocean view stateroom. The picture in the booking process was showing a large window which is important to me as I am claustrophobic. When we boarded the ship we were assigned a stateroom on the second deck lighted only by a small pothole. In addition the second deck was used essentially for crew lodging and storage of equipment and should not have been used for high paying customers. This is clearly a case of misrepresentation and deceptive advertising. We have made a number of cruises over the years, but Royal Caribbean is by far the worst cruise company we have ever used. Everything was mediocre, starting with the food. The ship was crowded, as well as the shore excursions (groups of 54 people. Once you are on-board the ship, you feel you are a lemon that must be squeezed. Most drinks at the bars are $12 and up (plus mandatory 18% service charge). In the restaurants it is hard to find a bottle of wine below $50.Embarkation
