Review summary

Jewel of the Seas is a great ship if you are looking for something smaller in size, less crowds. It's due for more renovations in some areas - cabin furniture/fixtures. I was also surprised by some of the fees charged for things that were basics in the past - but that's the cost of business. Overall though, it was a perfect stay. Balcony room is ALWAYS the way to go if you can fit it into your budget. Waking up to a new port/destination and taking it all in from your balcony is PRICELESS. It was the best way to see the "bucket list" destinations of Italy and Greece so that you can decide which places you'd like to return to. Lastly make sure to book an excursion every day if you can so that you can get the best feel of each destination...it will make the trip that much better.

Food and Dining

Loved the variety of the food offered. The Windjammer Cafe buffet got a serious upgrade from my last cruise...awesome selection of food to choose from. My Dining was the way to go for me and my sister-in-law...the service was fantastic. I'm missing our waiters Anderson and Jesus terribly!!!!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Messina, Sicily

Our excursion to Taormina was EVERYTHING! What a beautiful town captured in the hills, with cobblestone streets, quaint boutiques and restaurants. Stunning views in every direction. Completely made up for Messina...Taormina saved this port of call.

Valletta, Malta

Malta is small desert island that is just that - desert. Valletta is a surprising metropolis, very picturesque in the midst of the "sea of beige". What saved this port of call was the "Blue Grotto". I have never seen water in an ombre of blues and greens this color in my entire life. Photos will never do justice to the beauty seen in person...

Mykonos, Greece

Elia Beach is GORG!!!...did I mention GORG?! The weather was perfect and the excursion allowed for use of beach lounge chairs (20 euros) but well worth it. Mountains as your background to marine blue/turquoise waters...couldn't ask for a better beach day.

Santorini, Greece

Akrotiri Ruins, Thera, Fira Excursion was awesome! To see history and the famous "blue domed" structures, and great shopping. Can't forget the cable car ride from Fira down to the old port...best adventure yet!

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

Naples, Italy

I'm in LOVE with Southern Italy!!! You must take the excursion/drive down the Amalfi Coast! The views were breathtaking!!! It was the best excursion of the whole trip!!!!
