Review summary

I hear the larger ships have better entertainment and activities but the smaller ship like Jewel is a more intimate feel. I really liked the food and people. Overall, an excellent experience.

Embarkation

Very smooth. No long lines, got luggage and rooms fairly soon. No problems whatsoever.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Specialty restaurants are 5 stars - Excellent food, service and experience. Dining rooms were pretty good - one or two dishes not cooked well, but for the most part and excellent experience. Buffets were very good as well - a lot of variety and choices, and very good quality for a buffet. The pool and solarium bars were the best. Every other bar was either very slow or didn't know how to make a decent cocktail.

Izumi

5 out of 5

Excellent - if you can, eat here at least once. The "hot rocks" was an experience worth the money. Very good value for what you get and excellent food as well.

Chops Grille

Excellent - if you have an opportunity - eat here at least once.

Schooner Bar

Somewhat slow and they added ginger ale to an old fashioned?

Pool Bar

Excellent service

Onboard Activities

Not a lot of them. The steam room was broken most of the time. The nightclub was closed the last 2 nights due to problems.

Casino Royale

TOO SMOKEY!!!!. Unless you smoke, it's impossible to go in there and do anything. It was difficult just to walk through there.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Stage shows were not very good most of the time. The tango performance was good and the comedian and gaucho. Everything else wasn't worth going to.Also the DJ's at the pool played way too much rap, hip/hop and calypso. Some good current music would have been nice.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room attendant and dining room staff were excellent.

Cabin / Stateroom

I thought it was small at first but the stay was comfortable. The only major negative is only 2 outlets in the room. That's impossible these days. And the only 2 outlets were not close to the bed. They need an additional outlet by each bedside.

Ship tip

Small enough to be intimate. Our rooms were on the 11th deck near the pool, spa and buffet and a lot of the activities. Well worth the price to book those specific rooms. Made our trip so much nicer.

You are bombarded from the moment you leave the ship by locals wanting you to purchase a ride, excursion or something from them. At this port, they did not take "no" for an answer kindly if at all. Really ruined the experience for us.

Went to valley church beach. People were friendly. It was beautiful and we had a great time.

Absolutely beautiful. We did the boat cruise to the pitons with the beach break. Excellent excursion and worth the money. We also went on our own to a restaurant across the spot where you get water taxis. The Coal Pot is on the water and it was excellent food and the setting is gorgeous, right on the water. Service takes a while, but well worth it.
