Review summary
The Jewel of the Seas does need the refurbishment scheduled for April, 2016! The ship was clean but some of the furnishings looked pretty worn. Don't get me wrong our party of four had a great time, but Royal Caribbean did not do any fairness with packages such as the beverage packages, etc. As an example, when trying to purchase a package at end of the first day because we didn't board until 4:00 pm, we thought we could start it the next day and have it end on Saturday. We were going to end it on Saturday because even though the cruise of 7 days included Sunday, we were off the ship by 9:00 am! We did not want to have to pay for days we weren't even allowed to be on the ship! Also, when visiting the Windjammer for our inclusive meals, there would be a table set up serving "fresh squeezed orange juice" instead of the concentrate that tasted like Tang, but the fresh was an upcharge!
Kudos:
* Chops was an amazing experience! The food, waiter, and all the staff were exemplary!
* Our main dining was also great. Our waiter, Samir Taral, was very attentive to our needs and we rated him a #1 waiter. Our waiter's assistant, Perla, did a great job also.

Ship tip
You would have to drink A LOT to make the drink packages worth the price. Wait until closer to end of the cruise and you can pay for less days. However, we had a great time on Jewel of the Seas. Happy sailing!
