Review summary

Having cruised many times in the past we found this ship and its crew to be generally excellent. We stayed in a grand suite which made our time in the cabin really sweet. We also really enjoyed the Concierge Club experience each day and having a dedicated person to take care of our every need - Mr Diego Tripaldi - a real asset. The destinations were top shelf and except for a few days of lousy weather everything else was just great. The food was on par with our expectations - lots of variety - well prepared - always plentiful. The ship was very clean, well maintained, and comfortably appointed throughout.

Ship tip

A trip to the jogging track on the upper deck early in the AM was a great way to get some exercise and watch as we arrived at the various ports!

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Just OK - do the fort tour - very cool - but not much else to see. San Juan beaches are fair - much better places on the island if you decide to stay for extra days.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Prepare to be bombarded by cabbies - very persistent and annoying. We got lucky and picked the third barrage and the guy was fun.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Careful here with the cab driver you get - make sure he understands where YOU want to go. Always fun to do Sunset Beach and watch the plans land.

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Got to do the Cruzan Rum Factory Tour - interesting and fun - with free rum drinks at the end of the tour.

Thank you repuman.. that's kind of what I thought. But on I know. Sounds like everyone had a great time on the Jewel

we also cruised on Jewel last year and stayed in a Grand Suite. Diego Tripaldi and Joseph made the concierge lounge the highlight of the trip. in response to littleacraper: The cost of upgrade from a balcony to the junior suite, and from the junior to the grand makes sense. going to the next level up from the grand suite seemed more about status than value. most of the perks are the same but the price is nearly double.

Did you look at the Royal or owners suite ? Just wondering if you thought it was worth the difference
