Good but not great by gpmilleson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

This was our fifth cruise on Princess. We were very disappointed with their service particularly in the dining room. When boarding I was told I could buy the premium beverage package on the first or second day. When I went to purchase it on the second day, I was told the employee told me incorrectly and they refused to sell it to me. I tallied my expenditures for beverages and It cost me an extra $150 over the cost of the package. All they could say is "we are sorry". They should have made the exception since I was mislead.

Panama Canal Cruise by 2baldwins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Overall a good cruise. Very relaxing and we really enjoyed the food in the buffet. Food in the dining rooms Provence and Bordeaux was good but the service was slow and took almost 2 hours to complete a meal. Entertainment was good but the bed was too soft and the pillows too large.

enjoyable first cruise ever! by kathybrichards

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Very much enjoyed our first cruise on Island Princess from LA to Ft Lauderdale. We were surprised by the variety of activities offered. Most enjoyable: night entertainment in the Princess Theatre (very professional), lectures on Canal history and other topics, our accessible stateroom which very nicely accommodated my husband's needs.

The ship is comfortable. The cruise had the right amount of stops. I wish they had a real Patisserie on board!

We enjoyed an unbelievably scenic, sunny & warm September cruise thru our Voyage of the Glaciers. Lots of wildlife sightings too!!! by JojoHi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Our Voyage of the Glaciers Cruise in early September was AWESOME!! Saw lots of wildlife & weather was sunny & dry. Bald eagles, Brown bears, Alaskan mountain goats, Sea Otters, Seals, Beluga Whales. If you want to see lots of glaciers as well, go on this cruise. You won't be disappointed!! ;-)

Amazing Glaciers by jilweidman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Overall a nice trip. The food was not the quality of other cruise ships we have been on. We had to send back a few meals. Also we got cold food that was supposed to be hot. The staff in the sit down dinning was not friendly some actually seemed angry or unhappy. The man that attended our room was excellent.

Great first Cruise by AK261897

Vinton Fernandes our steward was great. Service in the dining room needs improvement. Towels could have been nicer. This was our first cruise and Vinton made us want to come back.

The Weather was awesome despite the horror stories shared from others, they spoke of bugs and other insects that would be intolerable. I found nothing like that to be true. We enjoyed the Cruise immensely from day 1 until the day we had to leave. by edwardtjackson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The idea of traveling to Alaska was foreign to us for many reasons, the myths surrounding cold unbearable weather, rain, insects and a host of other insane comments over the years from folks....that was phony baloney . I was amazed at how affordable the vacation package was and the list of excursions that was being offered. We didn't do everything, but boy we did had a blast, the Helicopter ride to Mendenhall Glacier, Dog sledding, Ziplining and the unforgettable Bear hiking through the forest was funny yet extremely entertaining. Thanks Island Princess

Beautiful ship, GREAT ports, GREAT activities in ports, mediocre customer service. by alandunn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Ports of Call: The ports were well chosen with numerous excursions available. My wife and I along with our friends, the McGinnis’, took advantage of several excursions, including the train ride in Skagway, the 5-glacier float-plane excursions in Juneau, and the Totems & Eagles boat sightseeing in Ketchikan. Each of these was superbly organized by the onboard excursions desk. Each exceeded our expectations. Customer Service: It was the shipboard customer service that came up substantially short. Most ship employees seemed to have a minimalist effort work ethic, with most of them unwilling or incapable of solving the smallest of problems. Their attitudes were not something I would expect even at a Hampton Inn (Hilton property), much less a 1st rate cruising company like Princess Cruises. Everyone in our party (4 adults) remarked that it appeared as though an employee morale problem existed… or perhaps the employees really were not capable or authorized to solve even the smallest of customers’ problems. I am not a stranger to complex systems and complex organizations. I full-well understand the complexities of managing customer service and the myriad of logistics challenges on a ship. What I don’t understand is why the majority of onboard employees were unwilling to go 1-inch out of their way to assist in little problems. Please understand that there was NO ONE large problem on this cruise… just a never-ending series of little problems… little problems that on one was empowered to solve without someone else’s authorization

7 Days on Motel 6 by jeff27362107

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

As a veteran of many cruises, this was very disappointing. In general, the service was poor and surly, especially in the ding rooms and specialty resturants. The lost our reservation for Sabatini’s and refused to compensate us even though we prepaid. Skip the Island Princess.

Embarkation with smiles. Joselyn kept our room clean and was very attentive. Food delicious. We enjoy food at the 14th floor as well as in the restaurant assign to us. The experience breathtaking , the places we visit. I feel very comfortable going by myself at any time. The staff make you feel at home away from home. The logistic was the best . disembarkation. Well I felt like a princess in my own castle. Yeah. Congratulations.

good ship and staff by lloydandpat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Good cruise, overall, except that Princess decided to substitute a stop in Ensenada for a stop in Nicaragua, due civil to unrest in Managua, which is about 300 miles from del Sur.
