Review summary

Overall a good cruise. Very relaxing and we really enjoyed the food in the buffet. Food in the dining rooms Provence and Bordeaux was good but the service was slow and took almost 2 hours to complete a meal. Entertainment was good but the bed was too soft and the pillows too large.

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Drinks were very expensive on board at $7.19 a beer and wine was even more expensive. Food was great but the specialty restaurants charging $29 per person were over priced and over spiced for my tastes.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Most staff were great, especially our steward. However, I was feeling badly once and went to the medical office. There the staff were unfriendly and even rude in my opinion. They talked in some South African language between themselves. Additionally, I was told that I needed to pay $140 to see a doctor.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size of the room was small compared to my last cruise on the Carnival Spirit. There was a big dip in the mattress and a topper that was too soft. he pillows were new and too thick. Our backs and necks were sore throughout the trip.

Ship tip

Overall a good but a dated ship. Avoid the medical center but the other staff were gret.

The captain cancelled this port visit as were were dockiing due to forecasted heavy rain. We were very disappointed in this decision as we had really wanted to visit Costa Rica.
