In short, this was the perfect cruise. Everything from the flight to Rome to the flight home to NYC and during the 14 days on the Princess Island went as planned and exceeded our expectations.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
This was perhaps the best embarkation experience we have ever had. My husband needed wheelchair assistance and it was readily available. We boarded within 15 minutes arrival at the cruise terminal in Civitivecchia.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
All the food and drink venues were excellent. Service was great and food and drinks were very good in all.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We really didn't participate in any organized activities, but preferred to hang out and walk on the outdoor promenade deck.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was good but not outstanding.
Children's Programs
No children with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All staff service was great. Waiters, other dining room room were courteous and pleasant at every interchange. Our cabin steward was readily accessible and responded to every need.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The size of the ship was good, easy to navigate from our mid deck 10 cabin. The ship was clean and maintained constantly by staff.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The overall comfort and cleanliness were good. However, it seemed smaller in size than other ship balcony staterooms. There was no couch or extra seating inside - just one desk chair. The bathroom was also very tight. We always choose a balcony and not a mini suite stateroom because we like a freestanding shower and no tub. However, this shower was very small and difficult for a large man to maneuver.
We did not do an excursion but stayed overbite before boarding. The hotels and restaurants were very good and accessible to cruise ship was great - very convenient and an easy trip from Rome airport.
Athens was amazing. We hired a private car driver and guide, who were great to be with. We absorbed the culture and history of Athens in our visit to the Acropolis, Parthenon and museum. Our only regret was having just one day. We really needed at least 2 days to experience the other museums and sites surrounding Athens.
One of our favorite ports. We have always wanted to visit Jerusalem and the important cultural, historical and political sites. Visiting the Western Wall was a very moving emotional experience.
Another part of Israel we have always wanted to visit. The Holy Land tour including the Sea of Galilee, River Jordan and Mt of Beatitudes again was an emotional, moving experience for us.
We loved Sicily and always wanted to visit Mt Etna. Again we hired a private card diver and guide. They took us to Mt Etna and Taormina. Again, we enjoyed learning the history and experiencing the Sicilian culture and food.
The Amalfi coast is one of the most beautiful parts of Italy. We have visited Italy and the other cities in the past but this was the first time in Salerno, Positano and Sorrento. Our excursion took us along the coast to experience the beauty, culture and food of Amalfi.
Our disembarkation was the best we have ever experienced. The instructions and procedure for wheelchair assistance were excellent. The process was timely and convenient.
