Review summary

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. Everyone (both crew and other guests) was kind, considerate and helpful. As far as I could tell everything went very smoothly. A good time was had by all!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room service and food were excellent! The buffet left a lot to be desired. The food was fresh but there was not enough variety to suit me. It was very heavy on the seafood- mostly fish of various kinds. I’m not a big fan. The salads and fruits we very fresh and delicious. The desserts were quite lovely but their flavor was lacking. We also dined at The Bayou One night. The food and service there were outstanding!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did not participate in any shipboard activities other than attending a talk by the ship’s naturalist. He did a good job talking about activities available in each port.

Entertainment

We didn’t attend any performances.

Children's Programs

We had no children in our party.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Arioneil was outstanding! Invisible and thorough. The dining room waiters were fabulous. For the most part the attendants in the buffet were good. Sometimes they could not be found when needed though.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The parts of the ship I encountered were clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was comfortable. It was nice having a balcony to view glaciers from. The single beds were put together into one as requested. There was a dressing table/desk that had drawers on each side. There were nightstands on each side of the bed with lamps. The balcony had just enough room for two chairs and a small table. The bathroom was pretty standard(small) for a ship. Hardly enough room to move in the shower- but it’s a ship! The tv worked well and there were plenty of movies to watch when you wanted to. The closet had lots of hangers and space enough for the two of us. Also, the cupboard containing the safe had ample storage.

Ship tip

Learn your way around beforehand to save frustration. Also, take the stairs whenever possible to keep from piling on the pounds.

We did the Golden Glassblowing Experience at Jewell Gardens. Logan Nash was the artist. He was very entertaining and skillful making this excursion a favorite. We got to make a glass ornament to be mailed to our home for us. It arrived about a week after we got home.

Juneau, Alaska

We did the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest excursion. The whale watching was fun. We saw whales, stellar sea lions, puffins, eagles among other things. So beautiful! The Mendenhall Glacier was breathtaking. However, there wasn’t enough time to hike any of the trails. I would really have liked to do that.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We were told to prepare for rain so we wore our waterproof pants and jackets. It rained hard nearly the whole time in port. We did the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Walk. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the plant and animal life there. She pointed out the various plants and animal life and told us about them. We saw banana slugs, a black bear, otters, and eagles before going inside to see totem pole artists. Loved this tour!

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

We did the Stanley Park Visit & City Highlights Drive. Our driver/ tour guide was Ron and he did an outstanding job pointing out the beautiful architecture and sights of the city as well as giving the background history. Vancouver is a beautiful city. Stanley Park was huge! We could have spent all day walking around there but there wasn’t time. Lots of green space by the waterfront. We saw totem poles and beautiful views. A worthwhile tour.
