Review summary

We lucked out with nice weather for most of our days with the glacier. Park rangers board the ship and explain a lot about them

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy to embark at Whittier by taking the train from Anchorage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5

Bordeaux Dining Room

2 out of 5

Since this was the anytime dining room and traditional dining room mixed, it wasn’t as organized as a normal traditional dining room is with attentive servers. The food was sorta bland and nothing to write home about.

Crooners Martini Bar

4 out of 5

Too small an area for a piano bar but the bar menu that focused on bourbons was a nice touch

Wheelhouse Bar

4 out of 5

Enjoyable place to hang out and relax. Had some different cocktails on their menu which was fun to try

Bayou Cafe & Steakhouse

3 out of 5

Expected a little better service and food for an upcharge dining area.

Entertainment

The guitar player Danny R was a wonderful singer. He played his guitar beautifully. We went to enjoy him wherever he played and even stopped to chat with us.

Enough space for two people. Balcony always seems to add a little space

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

We did the white pass train excursion. A little walk to the train but it was worth the views. Scenery was amazing. Back in town is pretty small and the main restaurant attraction red onion saloon had a huge wait. If you want to go, go there early.

Juneau, Alaska

We did the dog sled training facility and it was spectacular. The dogs pull this heavy cart for 6 people around a dirt track. It’s very wet there so expect some mud and some dirt when petting the dogs. Very informative about how they race. The grounds were beautiful. Holding the puppies were fun too

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did the lumberjack and totem pole state park. It’s very raining here so definitely dress in layers and waterproof clothes. The show was fantastic as they did it all in the rain. The state park was nice too but the wind that day made it a little less enjoyable

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

4 out of 5
We stayed a couple extra days here and the city is beautiful

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

3 out of 5
Not much to do here but it was a beautiful day in port for us

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not enough space to wait in the bayou cafe but a quick process once in Vancouver port.
