Just a beautiful trip. We want to do it again as soon as possible.

The food was great. The only suggestion I would make is having a few more vegetarian friendly options.
Bordeaux Dining Room

Cannot say enough about the people of the club class dining area in the Bordeaux. Just great people all the way around.

Overall great! We did wish there were a little more description of shows. We went to the show with Chris the "Director of sales" (Which meant his job was to get you to buy things) on the first day of the cruise. His presentation was titled something to the effect of things to do in the ports we were going to visit. What it turned out to be was a 45 minute sales presentation on buying jewelry. Had we known it was little more then a time share style sales pitch we would not have wasted the time.

Most of the shows were great. We also did the ships tour which was also great. I did not care for the comedian, his brand of comedy was just bashing on people which I did not appreciate.
Mark.. the "Naturalist" that most people seem to rave about really failed to impress. His initial show in the theater was ok. On the several other occasions we saw him he was much more interested in hearing himself talk then providing information. When on deck and talking about the wildlife, my wife asked him a couple of questions about whales. He offered one word answers and little more. She asked his opinion of a specific whale behavior and he offered no answer or opinion. On stage he presents his information but that appears to be about it.

We can not speak highly enough of our cabin steward and out waitstaff in the Bordeaux club class area. If anyone reading this happens to see them, ask who the pepperman is..

While the island princess is beginning to show her age she is still a wonderful ship.

There just isn't anything else like waking up in the morning, looking out the window and seeing nothing but water and mountains. Just amazing
Ship tip
Deck 8 aft and decks 10 and 11 fore have "hidden" viewing areas.
This is a very nice spot! I loved the smell of the trees when we got to land. We booked a whale watching tour through the ship mate app. It was a little cheaper then the ones listed on Princess.com. We were so glad we did. It was a smaller boat that held about 16 people on a full tour. We had 6 guests, the captain and our guide (Josh and Keith) with Alaska Galore Tours. Josh and Keith were just great. One of the other guests spotted a humpback whale on the way out. We followed it for a while and eventually lost it. Josh, the captain, got on the radio while looking around trying to find out where some whales were. Eventually we came across a group of hump backs bubble feeding, They told us to watch the birds as there was a flock on the water feeding on some of the same fish the whales were. Whenever the birds took off it was an indication the whales are coming up. We got several videos of the whales breaching the surface feeding. On one occasion the pod surfaced much closer then anyone thought, maybe 50 feet off starboard. The next thing we knew there were at least 5 whales heading directly for us. They slowly swam towards us, bobbing for air, ducking under the boat and emerging on the other side. Truly the most amazing part of our entire trip. My wife can not stop watching the video. I am so glad I was able to book this small tour and not one of those massive whale watching tours.
We chose not to take the train ride in Skagway as we were doing the cruise tour with a 9 hour train ride after the cruise. We strolled through town and had a wonder conversation with one of the locals who owned the candy store. We then spotted "The Days of 98'" show. Definitely a show not to miss. It is the story of "Soapy" Smith and very well presented. The wife and I have play bills from a few shows, some Broadway presentations, we have been to that are displayed on a wall in our home. The play bill from this show now joins the others on our wall.
