Review summary
Despite airline/luggage situation (recommend arriving a few days EARLY to cover unforeseen situations) we arrived bleary eyed but ready to take on Italy. Latest reno on Island Princess proved to be successful as we acquired one of the "newly added" suites and definitely enjoyed the extra cabin space and full bathroom, although we miss the lounges and pool removed from the rear of this ship. Crew was upbeat and accommodating, unfortunately there were quite a few people passing colds and flu around (both of us got one as a souvenir). Exciting to visit Europe the first time although quite strenuous packing day-long tours on top of each other. Met great table-mates for dinner. Also had super weather until the Azores and during the crossing, to be expected in November. Green apples worked great! Age of guests may have been the reason the activities were not well offered or attended, we have only Caribbean cruises to compare to for that. Ready to go again and visit more ports around the world!

Ship tip
Good idea to ask for large table at dinner to meet others, we enjoyed our new friends. Elevators are fastest of any ship we have been on. Good improvement. Only complaint is crew working outside on deck 7 in the early morning (before 9) which closed deck areas for the "walkers".

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Thank you for posting your review.
We are taking a cruise on the Island Princess in a few weeks and it is helpful to know some of the drawbacks about the latest renovation prior to embarking. I'm shocked to hear that an entire pool was removed for the purpose of adding staterooms. Wow... talk about cramming more people into less public space. I am looking forward to check out that situation for myself. Happy sails!
