First time at sea by wrighttanora

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

this is my first cruise I will have to say that it was an experience of a lifetime everyone should take the time to experience this. the crew on the cruise was awesome willing to help never making you feel uncomfortable or whatever you were needing. the only thing I would recommend that they change is the departure of the cruise shutting down the elevators was so inconvenient a hard-on those who ability to walk was limited but yet in Still the crew was still polite and did lend a helping hand when needed.

Just OK cruise by bleg1130

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Service was awesome! Food left a lot to be desired. Very difficult to find free water outside service hours for Windjammer dining room. Will probably save money and go with Carnival next cruise.

Independence of the Seas Cruise by rdunn819

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was very good with excellent food and services.  I really enjoyed the Ice Skating Show and the other shows as well.  The room was very comfortable and the view was excellent.  The check-in for the cruise at the port was fairly good, but the departure was a nightmare with long lines, long waits, and extremely crowded and hot conditions.  This needs to be improved before I take another cruise on Royal Caribbean.

Will only cruise with Royal Carribean by adurden

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the ship and the staff, especially the Schooner Bar evening staff and our wait staff at dinner. My diet is strict and calls for gluten free food and Floyd made sure my dinner was selected early and prepared just right. He and the assistant waiter, Adam, went above and beyond to make sure my needs were taken care of and they did an excellent job each night with out group.

While in Belize we found out my husbands mother was being moved to hospice care and that without the perfect flight options from Cozumel we wouldn't get home to see her again.  We boarded the boat from Belize earlier than planned to try and set up some type of communication to home while at sea. Kilver Hernandez at Guest Services assisted us and helped us with complimentary calls home from our stateroom for the remainder of the trip.  He also let us call AT&T to set up text messaging and made sure we had everything settled quickly. He didn't ask questions and was very compassionate as he could tell we were upset.

We couldn't find flights home and had to finish the cruise. The staff that we shared it with were very nice and compassionate. We decided we would not cruise with anyone other than Royal Carribean and have told everyone since of your hospitality and concern for our family. Our loved one did pass on Tuesday and that was a very sad and difficult day for us. However, we were comforted and able to assist our children and family in our absence because of your staff and their concern for us as your passengers.  This made our remaining time on the boat more peaceful and efficient with details we had to attend to at home.

From our family to Kilver and the entire staff we dealt with, we are sincerely appreciative and thankful.  Your service does not go unnoticed.

We look forward to cruising again on Royal Carribean and we will continue to share your efforts and excellent service with others.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Kenneth and Alicia Durden

Wonderful ship, the food was delicious and crew was top notch.  I haven't cruised in years and this was my first RC experience.  I wasn't prepared for all the walking on the ship, ha ha. Its a big ship.  We had a great time and already booked out next RC cruise for 10/2017 on the Allure of the Seas

Arrival Exit from ship by nycobject

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Once the ship arrived in Florida, the process of exiting was not well organized and the time waiting to disembark was extremely long.  The line was extremely long and we had to take the stairs from the 4th floor to the 1st.

Independence of the Seas was great. by gcherven

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first time on the Independence of the Seas and we had a great time. The food was very good and the service in the dining room was spot on. We ate at Giovanni's one night. The quality of the food and service was perfect. The entertainment was also great. Our stateroom attendant had our room spotless and was very helpful. The port of calls we have already seen so we enjoyed the sparsely populated ship. Getting on the ship and disembarking the ship was a smooth process.

We had a great time.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My family had a great time on our recent trip.  The staff, food and entertainment was great.  There were plenty of activities to do when we felt like being active any many places to go on the ship when we felt like taking it easy.  A great time was had by all.

Great Ports of Call by knfunnsun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall the cruise was fantastic. The ship is beautiful and a perfect size. This is only my third cruise with Royal and I will not rant about the Steward but I have pictures to prove how horrible of a job he performed,  and Royal has did their their

Best to compensate, but the fact remains it was an issue on board and nothing was corrected even though it was documented. I love cruising!! This is my 13th.

It's a shame management on board, with pictures, didn't assist.

Glitches by donaldcaplin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall good cruise, but two downers:

1. Medical staff sent daughter on-shore to fly-by-night clinic.  Unqualified "medical" personnel there.

2. SeaPass accounts were never correct.  Numerous attempts to fix them failed.

It was our first cruise! We had a wonderful time! The service was amazing! Our servers gave us great services table 588. Customer Service Desk was also very helpful. I had a problem with the credit amount, she was able to still offer us $50.00 credit which we uses at the Salon.  I highly recommend the Salon!

Nice get away cruise by jaarts

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall the cruise was very nice.  The registration was not that great.  All checkin had been completed online, but they needed to see my credit card.  The card was not returned to me.  When I realized the card was missing as soon as I got on board, I went back out to the registration area to get my card.  The person that took care of us had left and no card had been turned in, so the first 2 hours of my vacation were spent closing out my credit card and re doing some of the registration.   Once all this was taken care of the cruise was very nice.  The entertainment was excellent.  The ice show was amazing and each evening they had a very nice show in the main theater.    The food in the main dining room was very good.  We also ate in the Windjammer and it was always delicious.  There were not enough waiters in the main dining in the area we were seated in, so service was a little slow.  The waiters in the Windjammer were always so friendly and helpful.  We had 2 balcony cabins next to each other and the cabin steward was also very helpful in opening up the balcony partition which really made it nice.  Disembarkation took an hour, but that seems to be the norm for Ft. Lauderdale - not my favorite place to end a cruise.

It was okay. by cakemaker363

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Food and entertainment were great. All of the extra costs were frustrating. Fitness classes, water, etc. Internet, drinks, etc. were expensive. Hardly any outlets in the rooms.

Report on Independence of the Seas 04/14/2016 by thomaswidom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second time within the last 6 months on the Independence of the Seas. Cabin service great- casino great- food service-exceptional,- port of call Cozumel as always great... leaving the ship taking our own luggage off the ship

difficult. Told us that we could not take elevators to 1st deck... had to drag luggage down 2 decks...told us that we could remain the Studio B on Deck 3 but did not tell us that elevators WOULD run to deck one with supervision...this was my 27th cruise since 1993. Seems like Carnival has there ducks in order.. will seriously consider them next time...happy sailing. tom from boca

Western Carribean Cruise by brco1018

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My experience on the ship was great except for my cabin had

a bunk bed above the left twin bed. Getting down from the bed was unsafe.

The latter was not secure and the space between the steps were too big.

I have bruises on both thighs trying to get down from the bed.

Food and Day care by accounts857

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

thank you for great service, staff at windjammer were wonderful. We didn't like the food, it was same food almost every day. second day care little disappointed, they have certain time when you can leave your kids, what i was thinking it should be 24 hour service. parents could relax and enjoy, or if you guys can provide baby sitter.

one of the best cruises ever by petertommas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The first evening we had dinner at Chops Steakhouse. The service and food exceeded our expectations. The remainder of the cruise we ate at the Windjammer buffet,

Large selection of food for every taste. The staff was very attentive to our needs, and kept the areas spotlessly clean. It's was amazing to see how hard the staff worked to keep the area clean.
