Very Disappointing by uscmd2005

Expected so much more from this cruise. Crowded, understaffed and disappointing food. Long waits for everything. Staff was friendly. Attention to details was missing.

First and last RC cruise by michaels233

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first and last cruise on Royal Careabean. The service did not meet our expectations developed from our numerous cruises on Celebrity. For example when I purchase the unlimited digital photo package include the digital prints. Your just going to throw them away so it doesn’t cost you anything to show some appreciation. Plus I don’t know if you put all our photos on the disk or if you even gave me the correct disk.

Decent Trip by Lillith

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our first time on Royal Caribbean. We have always traveled with Carnival before. We enjoyed the ship activities the fact that they had a drink card that was reasonably priced and comedy shows. Our only issues with the ship was that our room had a small porthole not a large ocean view window. We were also unhappy with the fact that there were less dinner options in the dining room and a lot of the food was not seasoned very well and this included the desserts. Nobody likes bland desserts. We also wish that the Flowrider was open for more than 4 hours every day. There needed to be more open availability for that. Other than that the trip was awesome the staff was amazing the drinks were made to Perfection and the ports were fun. Will definitely be trying Royal Caribbean again and maybe this time we'll try one of the bigger ships :)

A nice surprise!! by gofinsup

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved our junior suite that connected to our friends junior suite. Gorgeous views from deck 9. Staff was friendly and helpful. Main dining room food was surprisingly good. Desserts need improvement. Sorrentos pizza is better than it was. Smoking section is a nuisance. Couldn’t watch the movie without smelling smoke 😠.

Fabulous highlights of Europe ports by mamabear123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

If you enjoy sea days this one had five but spaced out perfectly for us to relax after busy days of touring. Since this ship leaves from Southamptom to go to Europe ports most of the guest onboard were from the UK and just a handful were from the USA.

Nice, but could be improved. by obia

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Good cruise with bad weather, too cold, and poor food. Weather was not the fault of the cruise. The food could have been much better. I was used to finding the hand carved roast beef sandwiches for a late night snack, it was not available on this cruise. See my comments about the food in the food and drink section.

Independence of the Seas by VernonCT06066

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This is a big ship and it is easy to feel like you are one in a million onboard. we have been on this ship twice and like the ammenities (pool, fitness room, spa) but found the onboard activities to be a little lackluster for families with teens. The food in the main dining room was actually better than the paid dinner I did at Giovinnis. I had a charge on my statement that they gave me that was wrong (this is the third time this has happened with RC) went to the guest services desk before trying to disembark and the line is a mile long with people (I assume) in a similar situation. Have to dispute it with my credit card company. Frustrating that this continues to happen. They blame Steiner (the spa) for not picking up on the fact that the services I had were prepaid but someone is dropping the ball.

Fair. Good accommodations and service, but lousy for and too many extra charges. by Tuesday07182017

Good service and accommodations. Poor food. Too many nickel & dimes charges. Le Havre too remote. Bruges was the best place to visit. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I'll stick with Oceania.

Spring Cruise Adventure by Cutecruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I would definitely rate this ship as one to experience. Although a large ship there is

plenty of room to move around. Especially excellent for anyone with a handicap. Ship does fall down on special dinner venues. Food is average and service is excellent.

We Had a Great Cruise by louiepreacher

There was anything that we didn't like.  The ship had a great staff, it is well designed and the entertainment was outstanding.  The 15 days went by so quickly.

Great Ship, Wonderful People, Fun time by MahJongg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We do not usually choose the Caribbean to visit (we are seasoned travelers and have visited most all the islands) as part of a TA, but it turned out to be lots of fun.  Our balcony room was very nice with lots of storage.  The staff on the ship were friendly, and we met many fun people to interact with.  The food was much better then the Vision which we boarded right after this.  The ships size was nice and the shows were very high quality.

Independence of the Seas by ksraposa

Excellent staff with helpful, nice attitudes, varieties of foods/drinks, decor, entertainment, and activities/excursions. Some improvements on the music played at the pool between acts. The techno became repetitive and intolerable. A mix of DJ music would have been appreciated.

Wonderful Experience by drmwright

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean knows how to treat their customers like royalty and that is what makes me keep coming back.

The only thing I was disappointed in was the beach in Cozumel that was connected with our ATV excursion. We had a wonderful time riding in the jungle. The tour guides James, Pedro, Irvin and some others made it fun and educational; however, the beach water was dirty and it was so closed in it wasn't enjoyable. I am pretty sure the beach was chosen since it was close to where we rode atvs but not what I would have expected from an island:

Enjoyed the day in Cozumel, the ships food and service! The ship is very beautiful and had many activities and delicious food. Swapnil and Mabel were the best in the dining room and made our dinners awesome!

Excellent Cruise by pricefamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved alot of things. The ship, its amenities, the food, the staff, the entertainment.  Playa Maya, Cozumel, deluxe beach excursion was great. The staff who took care of the cabin and food servers were super and added to the enjoyment.  All of the RC staff, guest services, Excursion staff and getting on and off the ship was quick and easy.  We would cruise again with RC for sure!

Good for the price by Anderten

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We experienced a lot of trouble with the internet it did not work 90 percent of the time . Food was good however we had a different

Waiter every night. We had prepaid tips. Getting on the ship was a breeze when we got off the ship we had to carry our luggage down three flights of stairs for that reason alone we will not be getting on this ship again, we watched the band in the theater and watched the guitar player fall into the stage. That was horrific to say the least! We will definitely stick with the bigger Oasis class ship. Hopefully Royal will credit our internet packages I think that's the least they can do.

Amazing experience by GabrielAcevedo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My family and I had an amazing relaxing experience on this cruise. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars instead of just 4. My only small issue was when we arrived at our cabin it was not set up for 4 people like our reservation was. After speaking to house keeping it was quickly resolved. Otherwise no complaints

Chillin at the pool and the food at Chops where we had a fantastic meal and service was excellent.  Dining in the main dining room was also superb.

Our attendant was great and helpful.  We enjoyed the workout facility and the Grease show on the last night.

Nice Cruise, food so so by hansdanson27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed our 5 day cruise on the Independence of the seas. The balcony room we had was fine and the ship overall looked good for its age. The food in the buffet, and main dining room were sub par. We ended up eating in the upgraded restaurants at night, and they were excellent. The ship staff that we encountered were all very professional and friendly.
