Nice, but could be improved.

Review summary

Good cruise with bad weather, too cold, and poor food. Weather was not the fault of the cruise. The food could have been much better. I was used to finding the hand carved roast beef sandwiches for a late night snack, it was not available on this cruise. See my comments about the food in the food and drink section.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Line for platinum members was longer that the regular lines. No real time saver there. Bags were delivered very quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
We made reservations in Chops for the pork belly appetizer, which we had on a previous cruise. The version on this ship was not the same; the sauce was too sweet, and the was no smokey flavor. We ate in the dining room twice, first night, and first sea day. The first meal was OK, but not great. The second was tasteless and dry, we didn't finish the meal. The buffet consisted of British and Indian selections largely. Could never find green veggies. The salad bar selection was minimal, with mostly creamy salad dressing choices. This is the first time I was disappointed with the food on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. As proof, I didn't gain any weight on this cruise!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Too cold to do most outdoor activities on this ship unfortunately.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew was exceptional, they are the best thing about the cruise. They have a very hard job, but I didn't run into a single one who did not go the extra mile for the passengers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship was well maintained and very clean. Was on the Jewel of the Seas in Sept 2016, which was not up to par. The Indy was exceptional!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Good size, could use more storage. Nice and quiet towards the end of the hall. Our steward was great.

Ports of call

Le Havre (Paris), France Did not visit port

Exited the ship here to spend time in Paris. I would recommend this option for those who want to visit Paris

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarked in Le Harve. Initially told that we could not have porter service with our bags, but then was told OK. There was no easy way to get the bags off in this port so I was glad we had the assistance.
