Cabin type: Inside

Review summary

This was our first trip anywhere outside North America, Hawaii and the Carribean. What an amazing experience - ancient buildings that are not only still standing, but still serving their intended function. Wander into a random museum where 16th century relics await you. It was a trip of a lifetime!

We ate in the buffet and the main dining room. Of all the cruises I've ever been on, this was the best food we've had!

It was great. Our room attendant was amazing!

Ship tip

The ice skating shows are better than the stage shows.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

Visit the ancient wall surrounding the city. It was really neat.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

Head up to the caves and see the apes!

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France Did not visit port

We went to Monaco on an excursion. It was fun!

La Spezia, Italy

We did a road trip to Florence. Florence was TRULY WONDERFUL! However, it's quite a ways away... be prepared for a long day!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
You really need to have a "Rome" strategy. And maybe figure out all the "line jumping" things before you go ... we saw the Colloseum, but didn't go in. We saw the Vatican, but didn't go in. It's our own fault for not planning better. We still saw amazing things on our walk, but were a little disappointed we didn't plan it out better.

Naples, Italy

4 out of 5
We went to Pompeii. While Naples looks like it probably has some amazing historic gems, it honestly seemed pretty economically depressed ... a lot of sculptures were vandalized, and "being restored". It was a bit sad, honestly.

Cagliari, Sardinia

5 out of 5
We didn't spend much time here, as we were pretty tired. We wandered around and visited a 16th century church - that was amazing!

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

5 out of 5
Out of Italy, France, Monaco and England, we were surprised to see that SPAIN was the cleanest, most beautiful port on the trip. We walked around and really enjoyed the sites.

There was an arrest made on another ship, so that may have caused our delay.
