Great cruise out of New Orleans by CecyD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is a mid-size ship and our first experience with Royal Caribbean. We have generally cruised with Holland America in the past. I really liked the diverse ages of fellow passengers and the multiple projects for all aged children. Many aspects of the ship were just as good as the more costly cruise lines, but it did lack a few of the small attention to detail of the other line: robes and fruit in the stateroom, for example.

An average cruise by WolfgangG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship lost one suitcase even though it was clearly and correctly tagged. The suitcase was found on the second day into the cruise. Except for the guest performers who were very good, the shows were very loud and nothing but hip-hop dancing. Very inappropriate for the age of the average cruise guest. Good if you are a high school kid. Many guests walked out during the shows.

What A Way to Welcome the New Year! by Rb11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was lovely for an older ship. We are use to the Voyager class, however, I felt more at home on this ship due to the smaller size. The shows were great. We had the best cruise director, Hamish Davis, who made the group activities a blast. You could tell that everyone really enjoyed themselves, despite the average food quality. The dinning room food had limited selections, which were a combination of too exotic blends for the American palate. The dinning room felt crowded, but our waiter, assitant were great. The Head waiter, "Captain Kirk", was the best. He was there for any assistance that we needed. It was a great way to spend New Years!

Worth the Price by AliceJ1

The ship was clean and the crew was all very friendly except for 3 problem areas. The beds need to be replaced, but overall, we enjoyed this ship.

It was fun by Rb11

Great value- food in windjammer wasn't too great- DInning room selections were limited and too strange of combinations- not real appealing. Breads and desserts were great. Loved the cruise director and head waiter (Captain Kirk) All staterooms and public areas were too warm, did not need all the jackets and wraps that I took.

Grandeur of the Seas by DawnC8

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was a nice cruise. The ship was clean. The staterooms were okay. It is an older ship so there are no specialty restaurants or outside movie screen. There are two pools but one is indoors under a solarium. They are very aggressive about not saving deck chairs (even for your spouse!) so it was difficult to find a chair on the at sea days. The outdoor pool is partially shaded and the upper deck is very windy.

A great Christmas idea! by EileenG5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was nice but in need of some "make over" in places. I would recommend only 1 formal night since most did not participate the 2nd formal night. The port was easy in & out. We did not get off the ship at Grand Caymen due to weather, so that was disappointing! This is my 4th cruise and I would compare it as in the middle.

the cruise was a lot of fun. the shows on board were great, but there own productions were ok. we were on this ship beforeand noticed that they didn't help, people with canes, getting their breakfast and lunch. when we sailed before the elderly with canes and others having some difficulties were assisted in carrying their plates, coffee, fruit whatever. this service was lacking this time(i sure am glad my mother didn't go because she would of have had a hard time with this

I had a wonderful time! by DonnaS14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

My overall impression is that most staff want to made your trip memorable, from the cabin steward to the Captain. No one said "no" to a request. If that staff person couldn't obtain something he/she went to the next person above them. The ship was clean and tidy always. The only complaint was the heat in the show areas. I will follow this up with a letter to Royal Caribbean customer service.

Satisfactory by FlorenceR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

We have traveled the Queen Mary 2. Your ship is old and while updated it lackes the auora of a new ship. The meals in the dinning room were adequate but not great or memerable. The entertainment was weak because substitutions had to be made last minute. This is most unfortunate and a refund shoud be due to all guests aboard. RCCL is not an amateaur line.

The ship was clean, the crew pleasent and attentive. We were treated as guests, and made to feel at home at the same time. Every crew member we met was unfailingly nice and smiling. The pools and steam room and other ammenities were well used and enjoyed by us.

The ship was very nice. The entertainment, shows and activities were excellent. Our inside cabin was roomy. The ships staff was extremely friendly and always going out of their way to do as much for us as possible. We encountered no problems whatsoever. It was a fabulous 9 days.

1st time cruise and was excellent by ClarenceD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

This was my 1st cruise and everything was great -- I will be looking forward to taking another cruise -- both me and my wife had a most relaxed vacation-- the ship was stunning-- the cruise director and his staff made every event they hosted funny and enjoyable -- the food was good not great but not an area to complain about--- the Captain was also gracious and informative. All in all a great introduction to taking a cruise --- Thanks

A Ladies Only Trip by DonnaC15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The Captain certainly ran a tight ship. Everything was always on time, the ship was clean, the service, excellent. Our wait staff went far above and beyond the call of duty. Really enjoyed the events we attended. There was a large group sailing with us and they tended to take over the events they attended, especially seating which occasionally made things uncomfortable. We had some rough seas and the staff really managed that well. Entertainment was very good although some of the humor was a bit on the bawdy side.

Nice Cruise by DrewM2

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was our first cruise. We really liked the ship. The size was impressive. The attention received from the crew was 5 STAR. The room was very comfortable. Even the lumpy bed was VERY comfortable. We needed it during our bumpy ride home. We slept for about 24 hours to get thru the motion sickness. The food was good. It was always available. Bermuda was very nice. We would have like a little more time there, but oh well.
