main dinning room staff was excellent. Buffet staff was excellent

Ice cream machine was always broken

The show were not that good this time

Clocks on every floor were not working, we had kids in camp and constantly asking people of the time

Port holes need to be painted and maintanined by the ship.

Main dinning room food very salty

Buffet not open late enough,

Solarium cafe very little selection only hot dogs and chips with meat and cheese. I went to bed hungry many times.

Not So Cool by mrhall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My wife and I sailed on the Grandeur of the Seas, July 24, 2015, round trip Baltimore, MD./Bahamas. Ports of call, ships itinerary and service to accommodate from the officer's to the galley were absolutely professional in every degree.

However the suite we were assigned did not breathe, no a/c first two days at sea including the first formal dining night (my birthday, dressed in a full tuxedo and my wife in her ballroom gown).  After multiple attempts to get air conditioning fixed, the management decided to move us to another stateroom, the night of the first formal dinner, this stateroom worse than the first, we said no, we'll get off here. They found another stateroom for us, this one satisfactory but proceeded to loose a/c over next three days on cruise.

Now we proceeded to celebrate  our anniversary and my wife's birthday. I purchased a full stateroom birthday decoration in addition to a $100.00 floral arrangement to surprise her prior to embarking on our cruise. (needless to say the tropical plant was doing great!!)

Our compensation for all of this, minimal. Would not recommend Grandeur of the Seas if you appreciate cool air, PS.(don't look for cool water either!!)

Lovely Cruise and Island by Milks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise was ok.  The best part of the cruise was the time spent with family.  In addition, the service was exceptional!  The wait staff at dinner was our most positive experience as they made sure we were comfortable with everything.  I can recall a moment we were just having a casual with the wait staff at dinner and Indian Food was mention (this is our favorite cuisine) and the next day, the wait staff went out of their way to prepare a very very nice Indian cuisine for us!  That really blessed my family.  I do not believe they were doing this to get a tip but wanted to do their job with excellence.

The entertainment was decent.  Comedians were funny.  Wish there was more to do for those of us who do not like the bar scene after hours.  Not too much to do for the kids…this cruise is definitely not recommended for children as the activities listed did not go on as most kids did their own thing.  We took our kids this time and they were bored (they are 12 year old twins).  Will not happen again as far as taking kids.  Overall, we liked the cruise and Bermuda.  Will definitely be going back…probably via airplane to get more time on the island.

Ok service and dining experience, but not so much for kids by kkrc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We were traveling with our children (ages 16,15,12 and 10) and were disappointed by the lack of pool/slide/water activities for them.  This is an older ship, and it shows.  What I wish I had read in the reviews, was that there was no outdoor area geared for kids and teens.  The main pool was available to them, but the kids were not very welcomed by the adults lounging by the pool (even though there is another pool for those only over 16- the Solarium), and some children were really too young to be exposed to the "sexiest man contest"...it can get quite inappropriate, lol!  We purchased the Aqua Park tickets for the kids at Coco Cay Beach, and had been misinformed that they could use the park for the day while we were there, but that is not true, and actually incorrect in the shore excursion descriptions as you are really only paying for 50 minutes of use of the park.  We also purchased the Balmoral Island Beach Break...beautiful beach, but be prepared to be there for 5 hours without a way back to the ship until the end, and you can't bring water or food...you must buy it there....and bring your wallet...$5 for a bottle of water, very limited food choices as well...like $5 for a little muffin, no other meals available!  We also did the Airboat ride which was nice...the one with the 100 year old fishing camp.  The animal show was cute afterwards. Must say that where the ship docks in Nassau, hold your breath as the smells of urine and feces along the sidewalk area are overwhelming, and you cant avoid that area to get to any shops in town. We have been on Royal Caribbean cruises before, but not this ship, and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even though the service and staff were good. It is an older and stuffy ship, and unfortunately attracts a good amount of older and stuffy guests, and many of them holding the opinion that "children should be seen and not heard".  I work in a nursing home and love my job and my residents, but I witnessed many older folks shaking their heads in disapproval for kids just being kids...and several instances where these older folks think they can say what they want to discipline your children, especially in the elevator.

Wonderful way to get away for a few days by GusG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We've been to Bahamas. If you enjoy just getting away, eating well, and don't need a thousand things to do, this smaller ship is great. Second time on this ship, and going again next year.

Loved the cruise. Ship is still in great condition, considering its age. Great crew and would recommend this ship at least once. Newer ships have more amenities.

A bit of a disappointment by bratellas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

There were so many things lacking on this ship from the food, the service, to the condition of the bathrooms in the state rooms.   When I first arrived, I was told that my rooms did not connect eventhough I had booked them that way. I pleaded with the front desk to help, but they said nothing could be done to change it. I was in tears for several hours until I entered my room and discovered that they were wrong, and the rooms did in fact connect No one apologized or mentioned a thing about it.

Once in our state rooms, we found it difficult to open and close doors without  rearranging the furniture. We kept bumping into chairs, because the space was far too small for the amount of furniture placed in it. Both of the bathrooms in our adjoining state rooms smelled absolutely  putrid. I complained, but was told nothing could be done to remedy the situation.

The staff seemed overworked and annoyed much of the time. That could have been due to the fact that there weren't many things for the passengers to do and they were constantly tasked with trying to entertain them.

The food options were very limited for adults and kids. My son complained almost every night. The desserts were so bland that I skipped it most nights.

Bermuda was a beautiful and safe Island. I thoroughly enjoyed my three days there. However, my overall experience on The Grandeur of the Seas, has left me with a less-than-stellar, impression of Royal Caribbean.

fun, relaxing vacation by abryson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My Husband and I were celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary.  We felt pampered from day one.  Awesome staff from Cruise Director and Entertainment Director down to wait staff and hotel staff.   We would recommend getting a beverage package.  It was nice to be able to get bottles of water and soda from the soda machine.  There were several soda machines around the ship.  We enjoyed the nightly performances.  Great comedy shows and a breathtaking aerial show!  Plenty of activities to choose from.  Movies by the poolside, Bingo, trivia games, family games, adult shows, and line dancing lessons,  just to name a few of the things we enjoyed.  Food was delicious.  They were having trouble with the soft serve ice cream maker when we were on board but I'm sure it is fixed now.  Bermuda was beautiful.  We did not book any excursions from the ship.  We felt perfectly save to explore the islands on our own.

excursion trips out of the grader of the sea by nicoledavison19

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

the excursions were fun but were deceiving.. the excursions were state the length of time to be 4.5 hours but they actually lasted 2 hours..They don't calculate travel to and from the site ..we booked an african safari and the site said it was 5 hours (12:30 −5) we left the boat at 1:00. he boarded the bus at 1:15 , we arrived at the zoo at 1:45 , started at 2:00 .then left at 4:00 got to the boat at 4:45 and got back at 5:00 ..Overall , I was a very organized trip.. It was short but super fun..we got to Kayak for 20 minutes , saw the animals , and fed the giraffe and birds.overall it was really great because it was just the right amount of time and exertion level..I would recommend this to anyone ..My inter is 60 and she had no problems.

Great Customer Services by all the staff but the cruise activities and options were to pricie by jimenezjjose

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was ok the ship looks old and need to be updated. The private island beach was too rocky and was cover with a lot of tree debris. All the excursions and activities had a price which was a surprise to us compared to our last cruise on the carnival pride also living from Baltimore. The specialty resturant were not free and even thought the price was not bad I really never needed to used them because the main free restaurant was very good. Also all alcoholic drink had a 18% gratuity included. I purchase to drinks $25, very expensive. We pay all our gratuity up front but the 18 % was not part of the deal. The staff was really nice and work very hard to ensure you feel welcome at all levels. I remember Denis one of the restaurant manager and Jerome one of the waiters. Very friendly and detail service they always provide. The crew that worked in the late night cafe were also very nice. I wanted to leave extra gratuity for many of the staff that we interacted with but the extra funds we had to pay for alcohol and excursion made it very expensive to give everyone something substantial.  The cruise was more enjoyable because of the staff. Royal Caribean needs to make the cruise more inclusive. Also the kids area staff was also very nice the only thing I did not like you had to pay extra $7 an hour for the late pickup. During our cruise with carnival everthing was included and the activities were more for the kids. They actually brougth the kids to us.

So far - the best cruise we have had.............. by bobosmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Amazing cruise - staff was friendly and attentive to our needs.  Dining Room servers were aware of our choices and gave us a friendly smile every evening at dinner.  Cruise Director was awesome.  The RC band was not given enough credit - they did an amazing joy with backup for the entertainment.  BTW - comedians, entertainers, shows, everything was not to be missed.  We would definitely go on another RC cruise again. Big SmileYummyHappy

Do not skip main dining it is great

Plan excursions at the ports and keep the shopping on board. Shopping on board is fair and convenient.

Perfect Family Vacation by ljuarbe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Our family had been looking forward to this cruise for some time.  We were looking forward to sailing from a port close to home, for several nights at sea and to have a single destination where we would stay more than one day so that we could explore.

Not many cruises go out of Baltimore so the port was not very big and a bit run down (they are in the process of renovations) however the check in process was quicker than any previous cruises. We were very happy with the check in and boarding.

Grandeur of the Seas is a smaller ship and older so it doesn't have a lot of the amenities of a bigger ship. There are fewer shows, fewer things to do. We had been looking forward to playing putt putt golf but it was not available on this ship.

We had a problem with some of our luggage not being delivered. Apparently when checking our bags at the port, the baggage handler put a room number that didn't exist on some of our luggage so when luggage was delivered to the rooms, two of our family members did not get their luggage.  It took several trips to guest services and several delays but the luggage was finally located and delivered to the room at 9:45PM.

I highly recommend getting the drink package and paying for it in advance.  It is much less expensive to buy it prior to boarding and will save you lots of money. We purchased the premium drink package and it saved us lots of money. I would also recommend that if you are planning to purchase pictures from the onboard photography, you do that in advance. You will also save money.

I have read reviews of this ship that say the staff is not attentive or friendly.  This was not the case for us. We found that in almost all cases, the staff went above and beyond what was required to make us happy. Our cabin attendants Johann and Bruce took the time to get to know us. Our family were divided into two rooms on two different decks. Each of the room attendants knew who we were travelling with and passed messages to us when we missed connections with the people in the other room. Bruce always took the time to talk to us. We noticed that all room attendants we came in contact with were friendly and always spoke to us.

Our dining room experience was outstanding. The wait staff were friendly and also took time to get to know us. Our head waiter Dan, waiter Ferdinand, Assistant Vanessa and Bar Server Baharuddin made sure we were well attended. On the first night I asked for lemon for my water and every meal after that there was lemon on the table. Whenever we saw the wait staff outside of the dining room they always stopped and talked. By the end of the cruise they felt like friends.

The food in the dining room was good but we also really liked the food in the Windjammer. There were more choices, it was open more hours and the food was served buffet style. We also liked the sandwiches served in the Park Café.

Bermuda was beyond our expectations. It was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. Make sure you purchase the ferry/bus pass for your entire stay. You can go anywhere you want by using this pass.

We visited Horseshoe Bay our first full day. It is stunning and is a must see. The second day we took the ferry to Hamilton for some shopping. It is a very pretty city with lots of shops and places to eat.

It was nice to be able to get back on the ship whenever we wanted. Activities continued onboard throughout the time in Bermuda, however due to restrictions  from Bermuda, all onboard shopping and the Casino were closed while we were in port.

The cruise home was just as nice as the cruise to Bermuda.  There was lots to do. Once we made it to Baltimore, leaving the ship was a breeze compared to our past experiences.

All in all it was a great cruise. I recommend it highly. We loved Grandeur of the Seas, we loved Bermuda and we plan on taking this cruise again in the future.

Warninh <img class='agent-replacement' src='/images/hideagent.png'> dont follow through. by junglefeverjr43

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Set our cruise up with and will never do it again. We were told we had onboar credit but when we noticed our bill there was no on board credit there. Called 4 times from the ship on hold 20-30 minutes then told sorry you were misinformed. Never again with . Wasted time during our vacation and did the cruise through them to get an extra buck but never got it. Will run out the rest of our membership but will never return. Cruise was great and they did a great job on royal carribean grandeur ship. 7 day bahamas trip will do again but not through . Go through Royal directly is my recommendation pay them schedule with them and ask them the questions you have. No middle man. Third cruise and have done it all before and never had such a problem trying to change things or nothing. Lesson learned.
