Hits and misses by flashman2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We planned this cruise as a relaxing get away from reality. The Grandeur allowed us to relax for the most part. The hits were for the most part a very friendly and helpful staff and crew. We had never stayed in an interior cabin before and were a little concerned but our concerns were short lived when we entered the "large" interior cabin. It was nice, clean and in the end large enough for us to not be crowded. The only miss with the cabin was that my wife had to exit the bed by climbing straight out. The cabinet did not allow her to walk out on her side. Our cabin steward,George, was great. The room was always clean and ready for us.

The itinerary was enjoyable. I especially liked Arcadia National Park and Fair Lawn Cemetery where the dead from the Titanic were buried. St. John's was not a highlight. The weather was nice and the seas were calm for the entire trip  We enjoyed the nightly music in the Centrum, watching the ocean from the top deck and having a refreshing drink in the quiet Viking Crown lounge.

There were a few misses. I had trouble with the WIFI for most of the trip. We choose the plan for one device.and it was slow. The second day we were unable to get the device to load and the second and third days we received an error message that we were already signed on. After repeated visits  and calls to customer services the problem was resolved by cancelling the first plan and buying a new plan. The other miss was the staff of the Park Cafe at the back of the Solarium. The wait staff were never ready for lunch, surly and rude to guests.

All in all, we had another relaxing cruise on Royal Caribbean. We did get to relax and get away from the everyday stresses, We enjoyed the cabin and the friendly and helpful staff along with the nightly music.

Wonderful Trip by garyb594

We highly recommend this trip on Royal Caribbean. The service and entertainment are top notch and the excursions were well organized. If you wait to schedule it until October, you will also see the changing trees. We were a month too early!Big Smile

New England & Canada trip by bbg1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Not enough time in the ports. We would not take this cruise again. If we did we would hire private vendors for excursions & not have to deal with the excursion co's.

New England and Canada by eduncheskie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Cruise was very smooth.  Very easy process to get on and off the ship.  Staff were courteous and helpful.  Shows were very entertaining.

One concern was lack of outlets in the room--2 by vanity and none in bathroom.  This made a problem charging 2 phones, an electric toothbrush and using a waterpik.

The food was average in The Greát Gatsby and slightly better in the Windjammer.

New England/Canada cruise by MarkfromSOMD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Strongly recommended for first-time cruisers.  Eight night cruise visiting four ports.  One port requires tendering (must take small ship's boat to shore).  Great shows, excellent food, smaller ship with less than 2000 passengers.

Canada / New England cruise was great. by djohnston01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Grandeur of the Seas is a beautiful ship. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The daily breakfast, lunch, and supper buffets were great. we met some very nice people. We enjoyed the entertainment all week and the excursions and guides were very good. The boarding and disembarking were well organized and expedited. The only glitch came from the post cruise return to Best Western. The motel only had 1 van available which meant a long wait. We gave up and took a taxi. Also appreciate the service of . I called with a few questions that were answered efficiently.

Wonderful cruise by dryoung1202

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I had a wonderful time on this cruise.  There was always something to do on the ship from sun up to sun down before arriving in Bermuda.  Had a friend who lived there, so I didn't have to pay for any excursions.  It was easy to get around and the bus service on the island was plentiful.  The ship offered a wealth of excursions for those who wanted them.  The only problem I had was I wanted more time in Bermuda as the island was gorgeous.  Overall, I enjoyed my experiences immensely.

Grandeur of the Seas - Baltimore - Bermuda by katnpet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We enjoyed the cruise and visit to Bermuda very much. Looking back we would want 1 more day to explore Bermuda. The cruise itself was very pleasant as the food was delicious and the service exceptional. I can't speak highly enough of our stateroom attendant Iketut Saurdia and our dinner dining waiter and waitress (Luis Acosta and Olena as they were wonderful - professional but at the same time friendly and happy.

We would have liked more selection in the movies provided and more viewing times as well as more choices for movies to watch in our stateroom. The entertainment was good although some of the offerings which we thought would be educational such as the talk about Bermuda turned out to be more for promoting sales for merchandise and/or services which we didn't appreciate.

The other area needing development is for Catholics who are traveling on Sunday and wanting information on how to get to Mass and back. We were stunned that no transportation such as a shuttle was available for the return trip back from the only church offering a Sunday evening Mass in Hamilton except a $80 taxi. No help was provided for finding other Catholics who could share in the transportation expense.

Food and entertainment was good, the ship is dilapitated. by alaprade4303

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

It seemed like everywhere I looked, something was broken and/or not usable on the ship.

We docked at Hamilton on a prior cruise and it was a considerably better location.  If you must go to Kings Wharf, a scooter is essential for access to the better locations in Bermuda.  King's wharf has very little to offer compared to the rest of the island.

Bermuda by tnt6791284

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

It was good, missed comedy shows in a separate theatre. Specialty restraunts were awesome. Dissappointed that arealist did not perform. Dissapointed that there was not an adult area with an outdoor pool, the solarium was too hot. The roof never opened, I guess it was broken.

It was an experience of a life time. My niece Yvette was her first cruise and she was very excited and plans to go again in 2017. I love the set up and how nice everyone was with us.  The food was great, the entertainment was fantastic.  I have no complaints.

Best Ever Cruise by LadyJayee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My cruise overall was excellent. My cabin was on Deck 4 near the main area where most of the activities took place.  (And not far from the "R" Bar) This is a great location and near the entrance of the ship.

The food was good depending on your likes and dislikes.  I did a champagne buffet at Izumi and Chops Grill two different days, where the food was excellent.

The comedian was very funny and the activities on deck 4 was very entertaining, There was the towel folding, several games, a line dancing class, a spelling bee and an art show with free flowing champagne.

Met our goal of relaxing and "chilling" by marybeth4361

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Right up front I want to say that the only negative was the heat and humidity.  We had been, previously, in October, and it was a much better experience.  Bermuda is a lovely island.  We took a five hour tour by bus, which was very interesting.  There were some photo opportunities along the way.  We had an excellent wait-staff, and we were treated royally.  I would like to go back some time in the fall.

The ship seemed a little more crowded than other cruises I've been on. I didn't like the My Time Dining. The first night at the dining room there were no available tables for over an hour. That's not on my time. Then for the rest of the cruise, I made a reservation every day for that night to ensure we'd get a table. If I wanted to have a reservation, I would have selected the other dining option.

The cruise staff was all very funny and lively and made a great cruise experience. The only exception was a blond woman from England who just seemed to be going through the motions.

First Cruise by petroxell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We did not get what we were told. I was told we would have a full size bed and either a trundle bed or a sofa that would work for our granddaughter. My husband and I spent our anniversary in twin bunk beds. We were told there would be a cake sent to us for our anniversary and when I checked to see if it was going to happen, I was told it was not planned and had to pay for it myself. For our first cruise experience, it was quite disappointing.

ship needs updating by pboyajian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have been on 3 cruises with Royal Caribbean and the shows were much to be desired. We also had some friends who did the Caribbean Haiti Puerto Rico and St. Martin and they also said the show were not good at all.

The clocks were all not working all around the ship and every floor. We had kids in camp and never knew the time.

The ice cream machine was broken the whole time, the ice cream was watery and melted. You should have a ice cream bar with a  server and the fixings (choc chips sprinkles)

You should have a burger and hot dog station on the pool deck instead of people going in and out of the buffet.

The main dinning room food was very salty

We had 3 rooms. The port holes in rooms 3610,2612 and 3614 needs to be painted, the screws or bolts were all rusted and salty, the moldings were separating from the window

The buffet needs to be open longer. It closed at 9PM. When we were on the celebrity it closed at 11 or 12 I cant remember.

The solarium café that was open until 2AM there was not assortment of food there was only hot dogs and nachos and cheese. So salty. I went to bed hungry many times.

The dismemberment was a joke. there was nobody there to guide anyone. The lines on the 4th floor wrapped around the floor and we stood still for long periods of time.

The dinning room staff was excellent very efficient

the room staff was excellent our rooms were always clean.

you need to work on the ship you have a great staff

We are actually considering changing ships and as you know I am a platinum member
