Cleanliness needs to be exercised more.  Drawers, counter tops etc had to be wiped down, rug had not been cleaned as peanut under table, alos had to keep calling maintenance due to A/C & heat function.  First too cold , then too hot. finally got it fixed.  Food excellent. service in dining room excellent.

Cruise was good but vouchers were useless by chanja081

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall the cruise was good the services were nice. The exception was we received dining vouchers through but when we went to the restaurant to reserve our seats they said we could not use the vouchers because it was not on our manifest to use the vouchers. The dining crew tried to call and verify but no one returned the call.

All great except the foodc by Abi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Relaxing, enjoyable with the best service at sea.   Thanks to the specialty restaurants food was tolerable.  The presentation at the Windjammer reminded me of schol cafeteria.  They made up with very attentive staff.  Windjammer was art its best for breakfast but lunch was sad.  Quality of meats was terrible except,at specialty restaurants.

Grandeur of the Seas by dgrant323

LoveI loved everything about the cruise!! Fantastic weather! Great crew!!  Especially Aji, Aries and John. Aji and Aries were our waiters at Great Gatsby Dining room, table 420. John was our cabin steward. Also much appreciation to Paul Rutter, Cruise Director, for all his work, especially the Sunday All Faith Christian Service. Over a hundred people in attendance.

America first by kennethfowler

My favorite part of this cruise was the American ports. Although I have visited these towns in the past, I appreciate the opportunity to visit from the sea port. The ship was nice and the crew was very nice.

Rest and relaxation by Ken18

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Had a lot of time to relax and enjoy my wife's company without the hustle of daily life.  Food and drink were very good.  Staff on cruise was courteous and friendly.  Really enjoyed side trips at different ports.  Stateroom was very well kept and attendant excellent.  Can't wait to go again!   Happy

My favorite stop was Charleston. there were not enough activities . People save seats in the solarium all day from 6a until 4p. No chance ever to get a seat. Waitstaff was not that attentive as I remembered on other cruise lines

Grand trip on the Grandeur of the Seas! by Wiseowl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoy going to the different ports, seeing new places and learning about the history, the people and the culture. We especially liked the tour in Barbados on the Atlantis submarine. The tour itself was excellent, although the wait time for it was long. The My time dining worked out better than we anticipated as we went to dinner early each evening at about 5:15 and we always had the same waiters, which is a feature we like!  WE were excited about going to St. Lucia and did like our tour but were unhappy with the volume of tourists at each of the tour stops and the number of tour buses at each stop. It was chaotic and overwhelming, making the tour seem very rushed.  Less people at the stops and more time would have been good. There were three cruise ships in port and that was part of the problem! We especially like leaving from our local port of Baltimore, but hope that some new tours will be added to new ports as we have been to most of them.

Excellent itinerary! by dmhodgkins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

We loved every single island we visited on this trip. The ship is old but well kept; it accomodates only about 2.5K passengers, so it never feels crowded. We had a wonderful family vacation.

Girl's cruise getaway by Justusgirls

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cruise was nice getaway.  It was very easy to get around the ship, and the cabin was very nice and roomy. The cabin attendant was excellent, he made sure that we had what we needed during out cruise.  He was very, very helpful and friendly.  The food in the dining room was very good.  Our waiter, assistant waiter, and head waiter provided outstanding service.  Good food in the Lido, and excellent service from the staff that worked there.  The shows and other activity on the ship was limited and about average.  Good music during the afternoons and evenings in the Centrum.

wonderful trip with wonderful service by Cruiser67261559

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall, the personnel aboard the Grandeur are terrific.  Smiling and helpful.  It seems that my last critique was attended to: updating the movie equipment.  Now we can see everything on the screen with bright colors.  My only criticism, the merchandise in the shops aboard the ship isn't the greatest.  Oh well, it saves a little money.

Best thing about the the cruise was our stateroom attendant. by RichandChalley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The boat was called Grandeur of the Seas.. Really it should be Vendor of the Seas! The boat is 20 years old and it is showing its age. A lot of rust showing in on the outside of the ship and in areas where the passengers can access.

We did not like the main dining room. Went once and didn't step foot in there the rest of the time. Service was slow and it was the same food that was served in the Windjammer.Ate in the Windjammer for every meal. The food was plentiful but the desserts were less than stellar. Best dessert the entire cruise was the Apple cobbler.

Our Stateroom attendant was absolutely AWESOME! She was extremely nice and friendly. Never batted an eye or verbalized one Sign at any request. A request that I'm talking about would be an extra towel or a glass of ice. She was always very happy to see us and would stop what she was doing to talk with my wife and I. She was from Romania and her work ethic is something that should be copied by a lot of workers.

The captain decided to skip CocoCay because of choppy seas. Beautiful 80 degree day and a light breeze. Got to watch the cay disappear as we slowly crept away!. Spent three days at sea! Was absolutely trapped. Thank the maker that the crew showed a movie each day in the theater.

Nice Cruise by cyndi439

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The biggest thing I want to say is that this ship is headed for refurbishment in two months.  It's time!  Overall, great ship, enjoyed our stateroom, but my room was feeling some age.  My mattress was completely broken down, with a huge hole that I filled with a pillow.  An ENTIRE bed pillow!  My poor back was glad to get home.  And I hope they do something about the showers while they're at it.  This was our 6th cruise, and the smallest shower I've ever been in.  I'm glad I'm not an obese person, it was claustrophobic as it was.  I don't know how larger passengers handle the size!

That aside, the ship layout is great (I like the "atrium" style) and I liked that it wasn't a huge ship.  Felt a little more personal that way.  Staff went above and beyond to make everyone comfortable.  There were some passengers on our trip who had a bad experience (yikes, pool sprung a leak and emptied into several staterooms, they had to send those poor people home because there weren't extra rooms!) and one of my dinner table mates had mold in her room which made her sick ... but these are issues that I'm sure will be resolved in refurbishment.

Food in the dining room was very good.  Food in the buffet was average.  Seating in the buffet was stress-inducing.  Dining staff was EXTRAORDINARY.  Can't say that enough.

One thing I didn't like, they're ALWAYS trying to upsell you on stuff.  Filet mignon at dinner costs $20 extra.  They have specialty restaurants, $35 a pop.  Extra costs for tours, like the galley tour with a special brunch.  They charge for the yoga and other fitness classes.  We did take advantage of some of these and enjoyed the experiences we paid for, but it's nice to be aware ahead of time so you can budget for extras like these.  This was our first cruise out of Baltimore, which we LOVED because we didn't have to pay for airfare ... fortunately, this left us with a few extra dollars we could use on the trip.  We did not take advantage of a drinks package, which was a good move.  But did purchase a coffee punch card for the Starbucks place.  Have to watch the people behind the counter, though ... depends on who's working ... they use an extra punch for venti.  One lady charged two punches for grande, which was wrong.

Ports of call were nice.  Loved visiting a couple of US ports on this trip, on top of the Bahamas.  Unfortunately, rough seas did not allow us to visit Coco Cay, their private island, and our final stop ... I had put all my eggs in one basket for a beach day, so kind of blew it on that.  All the way down to the Bahamas in February, and no sand between my toes.  Oh well.  Apparently this happens frequently, we talked to another passenger who had taken 4 cruises in the area and never once got to visit Coco Cay.  It looked beautiful from the ship's view!

There was always something going on, onboard.  Lots of programs in the common areas, and EXCELLENT musicians and shows.  But this cruise seemed to be an "older" group of passengers, so the energy was a little different than we're used to.  It was still fun, and everyone we met was very friendly.

In general, I would recommend this cruise.  But AFTER they refurbish the ship -- it will be much more comfortable.

Not the Best but still enjoyable by rockpile45

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Boarding and getting off was the smoothest of any cruise I've been on.  The ship arrived back in Baltimore a few minutes before 7AM and we were off and on the road by 7:30AM

The ship is getting pretty old but the crew keeps it clean and service from the room steward and dining room staff is excellent.

Food is mediocre at best in both the main dining room and in the Windjammer. Quality needs to improve.

Entertainment was pretty good throughout the cruise.  All in all, not the best cruise I've been on but not the worst either.  We are scheduled for a 9 day cruise on this same ship coming up at the end of this month.  I think that will be it for Royal Caribbean for a while.

Amazing Cruise...Ready to go again!!! by DottieLorenz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ports are my favorite part, but the ship and the Specialty Restaurants are a close second.  The main dining room is great, but the specialty restaurants are just amazing.  Loved the Chef's Table.  It was a memorable experience and probably the best meal outside of my own cooking!  I'm pretty good!!!  It's great to be pampered though.  We started out the first night with a couples massage which was so relaxing and set the mood for the rest of the 12 days.  Love

great 12 day cruise by xzoam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our fourth time on the Grandeur. Great for the money. Had very good food and service. Lots of things to do on the ship on sea days. This was our first time sailing as diamond members and it was nice to finally achieve this level. The members lounge was great for drinks and appetizers, The concierge and waiters gave us excellent service and always with a smile. The concierge was especially helpful and would never hesitate to help  out when needed.

The Not So Grandeur of the Seas by NoTanLines

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This ship has a great itinerary, but the ship is in great need of the drydock repairs it will receive in April.  The entertainment is somewhat lacking of what we have had on other Royal cruises.
