Review summary

The boat was called Grandeur of the Seas.. Really it should be Vendor of the Seas! The boat is 20 years old and it is showing its age. A lot of rust showing in on the outside of the ship and in areas where the passengers can access.

We did not like the main dining room. Went once and didn't step foot in there the rest of the time. Service was slow and it was the same food that was served in the Windjammer.Ate in the Windjammer for every meal. The food was plentiful but the desserts were less than stellar. Best dessert the entire cruise was the Apple cobbler.

Our Stateroom attendant was absolutely AWESOME! She was extremely nice and friendly. Never batted an eye or verbalized one Sign at any request. A request that I'm talking about would be an extra towel or a glass of ice. She was always very happy to see us and would stop what she was doing to talk with my wife and I. She was from Romania and her work ethic is something that should be copied by a lot of workers.

The captain decided to skip CocoCay because of choppy seas. Beautiful 80 degree day and a light breeze. Got to watch the cay disappear as we slowly crept away!. Spent three days at sea! Was absolutely trapped. Thank the maker that the crew showed a movie each day in the theater.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Desserts were not on par. The food felt like and tasted like it was prepared for nursing home patients. Everything was bland and very soft.

Onboard Activities

If you like to smoke and gamble than you will enjoy this boat.

Anya.. Our stateroom attendant was AWESOME!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is 20 years old and showing its age. A lot of rust where passengers can see it. How about someone scrape and paint those areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The best thing was the service provided by our Stateroom attendant.

Ship tip

From the moment we stepped foot on the boot we were hit to purchase an upgrade. Whether that be a meal or a massage package it just became to much. The Japanese restaurant employees were very aggressive. Always walking through the Windjammer trying to entice you to an uncharged meal.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Just not used to the Northern attitude. No southern hospitality!

Charleston, South Carolina

5 out of 5
Ok. Been to Charleston before. Only reason to get off the boat was to take an Uber to the book store.

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Ok. Been there before. Only reason we got off the boat was to get a Pepsi.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

1 out of 5
The island is dirty and looks like a war zone. I know the island was hit by a hurricane last October/November time frame. But come one people who live in Freeport. Have some pride in your houses and yards. Pick up the trash and clean up the storm damage. Beach resort was rundown and they ran out of chairs and umbrellas. Wound up sitting under a Palm tree. No the best beach to snorkel on. The only thing I saw underwater was tires and blocks.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
The pearl island excursion was overbooked and so the vendor refunded our money. Went to a local beach that was within walking distance. Less than 2 miles from the boat. Had a good time snorkeling.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

Saw it in passing!
