Good Caribbean Cruise by cpeted64

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Good value, overall good experience but as a couple in our mid 50's traveling without kids, we would probably consider our next cruise on Celebrity.

Grandeur review by michellegjja

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Was a good experience and fun trip. The one annoying problem was the pushing of buying specialty dinners. Once would be enough to say NO but this continued until day 4.

Great cruise but the Grandeur of the Seas has seen better days ... by glad845

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Overall, it was a great cruise. I only wish that Royal Caribbean would retire the Grandeur of the Seas, as she is getting very old. We met very many people, both on the ship and in ports, and it was a wonderful experience. The food onboard the ship was tasty (for the most part). The entertainment and activities were good too.

Not quite up to expectations by lisamoranyoung

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The ship is showing its age both in noticeable rust in certain areas as well as lack of dining options and activities compared to other more modern ships. The crew was friendly but the food choices in the main dining room were not as exciting or flavorful as other cruises we have been on in recent years. Also, don't book the Wild West glass bottom kayak adventure unless you are okay with them not being glass bottom as none of them were so equipped.

A Spectacular 5 days! by jeanne7254

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The best part of the cruise was the ship tour! We toured the Bridge, mechanical room, kitchen and laundry! It certainly gave us a greater appreciation of how the ship runs and all the staff and their amazing work ethic! The service and the food was superb!

Happy with Grandeur by Conniewhipple

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We have been on 7 cruises and this one was terrific. Our cabin 7136 towards the back of the ship was quiet, the beds were very comfortable and the shower was always hot and the bathroom seemed a bit larger than other ships we have been on. Our cabin attendant was excellent. We strongly recommend visiting Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda. Absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed the Hilton Resort Day Pass. We had read lots about Junkanoo Beach but we were disappointed in it. We were there mid

afternoon so maybe things had not really got going yet. The staff were very friendly. My daughter likes the casino and because she gambled several times she was awarded a 400.00 certificate towards her next cruise with Royal. You can see that the ship is a bit older but in our opinion they have done well in keeping it clean.

We would take another cruise on this ship.

Family Cruise by sylvia2012

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise experience was great. However, I didn't like the fact that as soon as we boarded the ship some of the member from the dinning staff were asking if we wanted to purchase additional dining specials. We are sitting down having dinner and they kept coming I didn't like that at all. We were trying to relax. My suggestion is to put those type of specials in the compass.

Nice ship for short cruise by bciamm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Nice overall cruise.  Ship is older and doesn't have the variety of activities compared to other more modern ships. Onboard stores had odd hours and sometimes closed during peak time (before/after dinner).

disappointing getting on and off the ship was by rosafoster

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

the ship is not what was advertised, this is a much older smaller ship that has suffered much damage in the past ( port accident, a fire) the age shows!! Though not a very kid friendly ship the out door theatre shows were for the kids.

service could have been better as you pretty much got your own drinks. everything came with a price tag (gratuities added) so beware if tipping they probably have already been added. not a lot to do on sea days and the casino was cash play only. A few good notes are that the room was nice we had an ocean view, food was great and the adult comedy shows were funny. getting on and off the ship was also easy.

Great Getaway by ggeemm55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The favorite part of the cruise was the rest and relaxation of moving at our own pace, even if there was pace at all. The live music and other entertainment that we took advantage of while exploring the familiar surroundings of the ship. The food at our scheduled dining was superb and our waiter, assistant waiter and steward were very friendly and congenial along with their attentiveness to serving us. The Nexus 4 Group was always engaging and peaked our curiosity about their movements throughout their next assignment. We met folks from New Zealand, Tennessee and Virginia. We're actually planning to visit the New Zealand couple in 2019. I would highly recommend taking this trip from Baltimore to New England and Canada to anyone who would like to witness the splendor of the region.Big Smile

Just another cruise.... by shelleyva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Guess I'm tiring of cruises in general.  Not fond of being "held captive" on the ship when at sea, plus limited time to spend on shore when in a port.  Nothing outstanding about Royal Caribbean, especially following cruise on Oceania in January. I know I can exercise self-control when eating, but there really are too many temptations!!  Felt ripped off by excursion in Saint John as the girl at the booth promised us "the best tour you've ever been on" - NOT!!  It was one of the worst!  All other ports were outstanding with amazing guides.

9 Night Canada & New England on the Grandeur of the Seas June 2017 by valiantdream

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

I was a little apprehensive about booking this d/t some of the negative reviews, but I am 100% glad I did! I have cruised several lines (Carnival, Norwegian and Disney), and this ranked right near the top! The staff was wonderful, the food great, my kids (age 14 and 8) had a wonderful time! Although our cabin was smaller than what we are accustomed to since we usually get a balcony room and went with inside stateroom this time, we made it work.  There was plenty to do aboard ship, the adults only Solarium was perfect and the Great Gatsby staff were very attentive! Ports of call were easy to get on and off and were well timed. Even the day we had to tender was well run. The shows were decent; that is certainly one area I think they could improve, but the timing of them around dinner was perfect. I would recommend taking this cruise a little later in the year than we did (June 1-10). Many of the excursions in Nova Scotia were not yet available because they start later in June. I enjoyed this ship so much, we are already re-booked for the Grandeur to Bermuda next June!

We had a marvelously fun filled time. Loved everything on the ship. People and staff very friendly and polite. The cruise itself was smooth. The food was great. The cleaning staff did a great job as did the delivering of breakfast. Our room was great spacious and clean. Will tell everyone to take this cruise. Thank you!Love

Review by sunshinebetty36

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

Great trip from all aspects.  Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas (a repeat for one of us) was a fine choice, with best entertainment, fine quality in food, service and accommodations.  Weather was chilly, as expected, in New England and Canada, with the sole raindrops appearing in Boston's Quincy Market.  We felt lazy at Portland, ME and didn't leave the ship.  Meeting new friends was another highlight, and we will keep in touch with those fellow passengers.  In most ports we chose to walk/meander and didn't take excursions, except in Bar Harbor and a friend's personal tour.

Not sure we would choose the jr, suite again, even though it was special to enjoy the balcony occasionally.

Grandeur of the Seas...lives up to it's name by Cruiser47747661

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise was wonderful. If you live in the area, you can't beat the convenience of leaving from Baltimore...and you save so much time and money by not having to fly to your port. Parking is a dream...convenient and not expensive. The ship is very nice...I just wish the gym were a bit larger. Food was delicious, entertainment was great...and you can do as little or as much as you would like on the cruise. There are so many activities to choose from! Bermuda is a nice destination. This would be a nice "first" cruise for someone who wants to see if they enjoy cruising.

First timer on Royal Carribean by taiye28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I enjoyed the activities outlined for each day of the cruise. All the staff and attendants were wonderful and really nice to talk to. The only reason I give it a 4 stars is due to the motion i felt almost the entire time on the ship. I've been on another cruise to Bahamas before and did not have this motion sickness. Don't know if that is normal to Bermuda destination.

Relaxing and fun by LSHankins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Great food and wonderful staff all over the ship!  It was a great time first cruise for my husband and I. We  enjoyed the comedy shows and the live entertainment . There were many activities that you could participate in or you could relax and read a book pool side.   We definitely will go again.

Decent ship by Cruiser8683020

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My favorite part of the cruise - for the regular cruising (my daughter got married on the cruise, so that was my favorite part, but thats not the norm, so i wont talk about that) was the time in Bermuda. The ship docked where it was easy to get to beaches and shopping and other parts of Bermuda. It was beautiful.  The Segway excursion was fun and took us to places to get pictures of hte America's cup you cant get from buses etc. The ship was clean and the bed was really comfortable. There were lots of activities but i didnt do most of them as i had so many friends on board. Some friends did each of them and enjoyed the activities, but i visited so i cant speak to them.

My 2 complaints are this: the shows were set such that with one showing only of the show you either had to leave early from first dinner (which several of our group did, missing dessert or rushing thorugh dinner) or be late to second seating. (i think - i didnt get to most of the shows cause i wasnt going to be rushed, so i think they ended after 2nd seating). they need to fix this (suggest 2 shows, one at start of first seating and one at start of second seating - so you could go to dinner and show or show and then dinner.) second complaint is that the food, while plentiful was just meh. None of us were thrilled with it. I've been on 8 other cruises and the food was better on all of them. it wasnt bad. just wasnt something i was thrilled with. would i go on this cruise again? yes i would. i would maybe do more upscale dining. and to my time so i can see the shows. the ship is older but nice and the destination of bermuda is great. i do recommend it but be aware of the food - though some say it was better last year, so maybe it'll get better again!

Finding the Cruise Terminal...Baltimore Needs Improved Sinage!!! by haphambric

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Overall the cruise aboard the Grandeur of The Seas was great.  Crew was exceptional...boat was nice, and destination was a first for us.  Walking around the King's  Wharf area was a let down...not too much to do.  The Five Hour Mini Bus tour to Saint George was great.  We had a fantastic tour guide that was able to talk non-stop for the Full Five Hours.  We now understand Bermuda's layout and history very well...recommend it strongly.  Grandeur of The Seas tribute to America's: Vets  and other service organization was well received.  The ship's music programs and shows were everywhere...theater and centrum lobby.  It was great.  I was disgusted with the price of beer, wine and bar drinks...absolutely too expensive.  This one fact alone is enough to make me think long and hard before taking another Royal Caribbean Cruise.

Someone in the cruise industry needs to talk to the Baltimore/Maryland governments and point out to them that unless you are arriving on Interstate 95 there are no signs pointing towards the Cruise Terminal.  Likewise Royal Caribbean needs to have the street address on the contract so it can be entered in a GPS.
