Review summary

ship is old and showing its age. staff and service was excellent and made up for visual shortcomings. way too much space allocated for smoking sections, and at times was very unpleasant. Food was good to very good, but not quite excellent. charge for internet access was obscene and should be eliminated or at least drastically reduced. Think starbucks / mcdonalds

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
bathroom had continual odors, and toilet was difficult to flush. stateroom attendant and supervisor did everything they could to minimize the issue, and were moderately successful

Ship tip

our wait staff at gatsby was superb. windjammer could be laid out better, cost of internet access is ridiculous; cost of excursions are over priced.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

need to work on accommodating larger or newer ships. understand that bridges are a problem. maybe a different port should be investigaed

I think she's due for a refit in 2017. In the meantime we'll just enjoy the best crew we've ever enjoyed on any cruise. We sailed on her in June of 2014 & made lots of friends amongst the crew. We sail on her again at the end of this week & we really hope some of them are still around! Thanks for the comments.

We sailed her across the Atlantic in 2012 and she was in terrible shape then. After getting us to Malaga she went to Cadiz for a 30 day refit. A friend of ours travels all over the world doing repairs on cruise ships when in refit. He worked on Grandeur and told me he would not have crossed the ocean on her. Fortunately we met some very nice people aboard so we were able to overlook the deficienci

I agree, ship needs a lot of Reno, water coming in main hall skylights and crack in the upper deck track, railings that were broken.
