Review summary

We have sailed with RCI several times but this time we chose one of the older, renovated smaller ships. We were disappointed in the entertainment on this ship & also the food in the main dining room. The quality was well below our previous cruises with RCI & I wonder if they are putting their resources into the newer, larger ships & shortchanging the smaller ships.  I would rather pay a bit more & receive the same quality that we are used to with RCI.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food in the WIndjammer (buffet restaurant) was better at times than that in the main dining room.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The ventriloquist & 2 comedians were great & clean family entertainment. The dancers & singers were poor at best.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Didn't use this time, but on previous cruises. my granddaughter has loved RCI's program.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The only staff that didn't go above & beyond for us were 2 staff on the service desk.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was fine. Small but fine for sleeping in. We had requested & had confirmation on a refrigerator for husband's meds, an eggcrate on bed & sharps container but none of these were in the room. Our attendant was able to get us all but the eggcrate which we were told was not in fact available. Beds were very uncomfortable & we didn't sleep well.

Ship tip

Food in the Windjammer was great when we had breakfast or lunch there. Solarium was very nice & for adults (16 & up) only but they never opened the roof over this pool until the last port day when someone complained. Would have been nice to have enjoyed that all week long.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

We stayed over night before at the LaQuinta Inn which offered free shuttle form airport to hotel & form hotel to cruiseport as well as free breakfast. Our son also was able to park his vehicle at this hotel for 10 days at no extra charge.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

We were anxious to see this port again as many updates have been made since we last visited but due to engine issue we were unable to get to this port.

Completely agree. The main show entertainment on our last small ship cruise was sub par, mainly the singers.
