This was my first cruise, and it was most enjoyable. There were activities for a wide range of interest. At each port the excursions were well planned and enjoyable.

It was "Just OK" by RickF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Waiters had to go ungodly distance to get your drinks, took forever. Go with traditional dining as waiters in the Anytime Dining Rooms seem not to care as much. Unlike other ships, you can not get ice cream on the buffet which disappointed my kids (me too!). Food was good portions ok. Princess seems to want to nickel and dime you to death with cards for everything and the automatic tip added to your bill seems to take away some ncentive on the part of the waiters. Casino slots got VERY tight at end of cruise.

Grand Princess, Western Caribbean 3/07 by JudyA10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is nearly 10 years old, but it is still beautiful. Very big, lots of mini-suites and very well kept. A lot of fun to explore, sail on, and see sitting at anchor!

Nice Cruise by NinaA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was quite nice with exception to the food. The ship was well maintained, the cabin was great, and our kids had a great time. We liked most of the ports except Costa Maya. Our kids loved the programming (ages 10&12) and couldn't wait to get to the club. Cozumel was just way too busy with 6 ships in port. We went to Paradise beach and could not find a lounge chair because too crowded. Our only main complaint was the food. We have been on the Saphire and Diamond and loved the food. This was the first time that it was truly horrible except for Painted Desert. This is their steak house and this was nice.

Best...Vacation...Ever by AdamJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My first impression of the ship was that it was very, very large and might be too confusing to navigate easily right away. Fortunately, that feeling went away rather quickly as we walked the length and depth of the ship right away. It was a very nice ship that never felt too crowded (busy, but not crowded) and always had a place we could "get away".

Great Family Trip by SandraB9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Grand Princess is a beautiful boat! She looks almost new, and everything was spotless. Our outside stateroom fit four of us (two adults, a teen and a child), but barely. When our second child grows a bit we'll need to move into two rooms. The boat's showrooms - the Princess Lounge and the Vista Lounge - are both beautiful; very spacious. We didn't eat at any of the speciality restaurants because we figured the food inside the dining room was so nice there was no need to spend more. We originally wanted to be on the "early seating" for dinner, but it was filled up by the time we asked, so we were "anytime" dining. It actually worked out better for us. We got to eat dinner at 6:30 every night, and we met another family who sat at our table several times during the week. One caveat - make reservations every morning for that night's dining if you have "anytime" dining, otherwise you won't get seated right away.

First time Cruise! by RobinY1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise and we had no idea what to expect. We were really pleaseed. I love the "Movie under the Stars". I saw other ships that were docted near ours and saw one had a rock climing area. But I think the Movie under the stars really is more our fit. The food was really wounderfull as well. I also really like the on board Photograhers. The ship was clean and very will kept. Not a spec of dust any where. The Lotus-Spa was really benificail. I am still feeling the effects of the SPa and have lost another 5 punds since the cruise:) Wooota! Being that it was our first cruise, everyone was so helpfull in making sure we were where we needed to be and also answered quests very kindly ...when I'm sure that have been asked the same questions a million times.

The ship was beautiful. we loved the fact that main entertainment lounges and theatre were on the same deck it made it very easy to different shows. The disco was beautiful, the pools were awesome. Loved the fact that one was indoors and one was outdoors. Oh, movies under the stars wae really fun too.

Weather good! But had our ups and downs by BarbaraR9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were disappointed overall. We thought Princess Cruise Line was supposed to be a Premier Cruise Line, as told to us by our booking agent. The main dining menus were poor and every night at dinner, atleast 2-3 of us at the table could not or would not eat the majority of our meals. We did not discuss this amoung ourselves, but by the last night, everyone did agree it was a disappointment. The wait staff were up and down regarding their service. Overall good, but dining is one of the main reasons you cruise. I should say the same thing for the entertainment and service. We tried to look past these things but were just reminded of the overall lack of curteosy and service upon encountering yet again one more open debate or gripe fest by the crew or staff. I think the reason we experienced such bad service by the bar staff, wait staff and anyone else who usually receives their tip at the end of the cruise, is because their tips were automatically added to our bill, I guess they figured if they could hit it once in a while we would do nothing about it. If we had had to confront the Pursers Desk, etc, well honestly that would have just seemed like work and we taking a vacation from that kind of atmosphere, yet here we were facing the same kind of "problems" you encounter everyday on the job. We have had to keep reminding ourselves of the things we did enjoy and try not to dwell on the negatives.

A nice time by CathyP4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We sailed on the Grand Princess. This was our nineth cruise and the first time with princess. We had a mini suite and loved it. The buffet was disappointing. the food in the dining room was great. We loved the anytime dining. We enjoyed room service as well. Our room attendant could have been more accomidating, we asked for a bottle of water at three in the afternoon and was told we would have to wait until eight for the water and our ice. I had to ask for clean towels one day. I have to say we loved the itinerary. We went to Belize, Rhotan , Cozumel, and Costa Maya. Had a great time. We didn't mind getting on or off the ship. All and all went pretty smooth. The Grand Princes could have been layed out better. We did enjoy the pools however some of the hot tubs were in need of repair. A cruise is what you make of it and we had a good time.

Good Ports, BAD BAD SERVICE! by ShaneJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship it self was fine. There was a lack of entertainment options by the cruise staff, and the service was unhelpful. Most the time my family felt invisible to the staff as they would walk right by you.

The Grand Princess is a beautiful, if aging, ship. The amenities were more than adequate. The cabin, though small, had enough storage space.

So So Cruise---Roy Carib is Better by JayS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruise was nice. I enjoyed the ports of call. Ship is large and spacious and accomodates quite a few passengers. Princess check in was a nightmare. A lot of hurry up and wait. Long Lines...not enough Princess personnel and the ones present were unorganized. Service staff on ship were so so. Buffet staff never bothered to inquire about whether you needed a beverage.

Grand Princess by ChristineJ4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grand Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Embarkation and diembarkation process was horrible. We arrived into Houston on an early morning flight (10:00AM). Did not end up boarding the ship until approximately 5:30PM. We were one of the first to arrive and one of the very last to board. We were sent to an alternate place (Moody Gardens) for the registration process. It was not well organized at all. We were told to stay on the bus. Meanwhile buses that were coming in behind ours were pulling in and everyone on those buses got to go in and get registered. It was very very disorganized. They served a light snack but only had enough for the very first people who arrived.
