Review summary

I was promised a room across from my friends since this was my first cruise and I was by myself.  I ended up one floor above them and in the middle of the ship!  I was told it was the travel agency's fault!  I tried to upgrade to a balcony and was told there was not one room available on the whole ship.  I tried to be moved closer to friends.  It never happened.  I told the parser I wanted OFF the ship but he talked so much we were underway and I couldn't get off! I think I should be refunded my entire trip!!  The first day I spent in my room in tears since there was no way to contact my friends - cell phones didn't work and they wouldn't give out room numbers of guests.  I was miserable!!!

Seriously? What is with the fake post? 1 You know in advance what your room number is. you can look it up on a map online and see what deck your going to be on the works. 2. Have you never traveled before? Even traveling with friends, people are going to want some personal alone time. To have a room on your own you have to be. 2. Grow up. use what brain cells you and ask your friends for the room extension so you can use the room phone and call them. Everyone knows Cell phones do not work without Cell phone towers. 3. This time of the year is considered "High Season". Meaning it's going to be booked full so no, there would be no chance of upgrading. seriously fake post.

You know your room # long before you sail and can look up its exact location online. Don't blame the cruise because you were not prepared or did any homework.

One note that places the reality of this post in doubt... the poster has a profile ...but the profile shows no cruise...if the trip was a nightmare and you went to the effort to post this trip...why would you forget the date and the itinerary?

If you couldn't find your friends all you had to do was go to the reception desk and ask them to call their room, and if no answer then a pa message to call the pursers desk. Once you know your friends room number you can pick up and phone on the ship to call them.

Your agent is at fault. I am cruising with friends my friends are three rooms, away from me. i have a question as to you not knowing what room your friends were in. you get your room numbers in advance did you not communicate with each other before the cruise?

I have family that struggles in certain public settings so please do not take these comments as personal attacks. It's just that a lot of this should or could have been know before you boarded. If you decide to cruise again, seek an experienced travel agent you feel comfortable with. Don't book on the internet.

If you tried to move rooms to be closer to friends, you clearly knew where there room was. If you are so scared and sit in your room crying..and you are an adult....you should just stay home. geez. If you venture out of your bubble again, be informed. Staterooms are assigned, and you know your room number, before you ever get to the ship. Travelling isn't rocket science.

Wow! You had to spend a few hours without your friends, crying in your room? How were they supposed to find you in there?? You should've just gotten off your bed and went exploring. And I'm sure if you asked they would've been able to send a message to your friends room without giving the room number out. I just don't understand these people who don't do a little research before their trip. On my last cruise there were a couple women who were at the guest services desk complaining that their room didn't have a balcony, even though their documents clearly stated that they had an interior room. They tried to justify it by saying they didn't know what interior meant!

I have to agree with skywatchers and twangster...we cruise with friends...the Grand is not such a large ship that you never run across them on a ten day cruise...and if being with them was important I am surprised that it never occurred to anyone to discuss cabins especially if you knew their location...the purser would not give away cabin numbers but they would deliver a note for you...if you asked...and the lifeboat drill occurs while still docked so plenty of opportunities to leave...the complaints indicate either one who has never been on a cruise ship...or one who has decided that a minor issue needed to be blown up to justify complaining...I took a 15 day Hawaiian cruise...they ran out of oatmeal two days out...the pallet was never delivered...and a lady spent the next 2 days complaining to anyone who would listen that her entire cruise was ruined...I agreed that she desperately needed the fiber...but for most of us at this site...a cruise to a beautiful location beats most forms of getting away

Sky watcher DITTO perhaps they didn't want a DD ( Debbie Downer) to entertain knowing the feat would be IMPOSSIBLE side note what's your age ????? I know you have to be at least 21 to be in a room without a adult if 21-30 GROW UP !!!!!!

Doesn't pass the smell test. After reading your rant . . . maybe the friends ditch you on purpose! You said they were one floor above you so you knew where they were. Why didn't you go to them? I'm just saying. . .

Jennifer1960    7 years ago

wow..scarey no doubt, but did you ever catch up with your friends? seems like some miscommunication somewhere,so did you not enjoy any aspect of the cruise at all?

twangster    7 years ago

Your friends didn't tell you what cabin they were in? Did you not share info after checking in and while still in port? Ships sail full, upgrades after boarding rarely are possible. Kind of the same when a hotel sells out. It sounds like cruise travel isn't a good fit for you. That's okay, some people just don't like it.

So bad on so many levels. Please call the Cruise line to see what they may offer.
